Hello, above is the link to my 1 minute test recording. I use GarageBand to edit on MacOS. My microphone is a Rode NT1-A.

Thank you!

Micky :)

Welcome Micky

I reviewed your test sample, and while it sounds good there are some technical changes needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kbps constant bit rate MP3, 44.1kHz sample rate, mono, and between 86dB and 92dB, preferably 89-90. Your test audio is 192kbps, stereo, and volume too low at 71.9dB.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to use GarageBand to make LibriVox recordings, since GB does not support mono. You will have to select other recording software, such as Audacity or OcenAudio (which are free), or StudioOne, Audition, TwistedWave or Reaper (which are not).

You can pre-check your audio yourself by downloading the free Checker app: https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/
Passed with Warnings is a fail with regard to volume.

Once you have new software, please make a new test recording and post it in a reply to this message. I will come back and review it for you.

Hi there!

Thank you for the reply. Here is my updated recording: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_mickyf.mp3
I downloaded the Checker app, and it passed there!

Let me know if I am good to go!

Almost. This test has pronounced plosive sounds on the P's. Reposition your mic so that it is off-center about 45 degrees. Add a pop filter or foam wind screen if necessary.

Please submit another test.

BTW, which software did you go with?

Thank you so much for your patience!

Here is my updated recording: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_mickyf.mp3 It passed the Checker app, and the Ps don't sound too harsh this time. It was my first time using Audacity, and I was having trouble initially with the volume settings, but I think I've now figured out how to meet the volume requirements without having to yell into the mic like I'd done in my last test!

Let me know if this recording is suitable.
