PROOF LISTENERS NEEDED
I have advertised for a DPL in the Listeners Wanted Forum as I am struggling to cope with the PL work needed for this project.
I realise now that I should not have started a project so large in my present circumstances and I will need help if this is going to be finished.
I can only apologise for any delays.

That would be fantastically helpful
I have grouped the sections that are awaiting PL together in MW (some of them are quite long )
TODD: Can you put Adrian in as DPL

Hello Greg, nicely read and full of dynamics and pathos!GregGiordano wrote: ↑March 9th, 2024, 8:24 pm Here are the lines for Carlos - Act One:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/doncarlos_carlos_1.mp3
Since this is a lengthy part I am going to post each act as I complete editing it to make it easier on the PL.
Take care,
Greg
Pl notes
(optional) at 4:05 I hear "I heart.." rather than "My heart will else O'erflow and I've already said too much"
4:37 "if it is bent..." should be "it is bent to know" (i.e. extra "if").
6:00 "yet I ask" should be "and yet I ask"
10:41 "three time didst thou repulse me the prince" should be "... repulse the prince ..."
14:49 "adore her by day" s/b "adore her day by day"
(optional) 16:03 "slavish nurture" - I don't know how this is pronounced in the USA, but I would say "slay-vish", not "sla-vish".
18:03 "<indistinct> in the the lapse of" - I don't hear "that in the lapse of ages"
18:55 I hear "yawning precipice's brine" s/b "...brink"
21:47 "would balk me" s/b "should balk me"
(optional) 24:52 I hear "ein own heart" not "my own heart"
(optional) 32:55 "thou flingest the toy away", I don't think there should be an "ing" sound in "flung'st "
I also have a technical comment to make that is not within scope of the PL, let me know if you want it.
Regards,
Adrian Stephens

Thank you, Greg. Nicely read. We have a 2-year-old staying with us, and he is almost as emotional as Don Carlos is!alanmapstone wrote: ↑March 11th, 2024, 12:20 amHi GregGregGiordano wrote: ↑March 10th, 2024, 4:26 pm Here are the lines for Carlos, Act Two -

This is another large file (45:13).
Alan, since you indicated that you would not be PL-ing larger files for while, I am going to set this particular project aside and work on another play I am also working on. I'll come back to it in a bit to give you time to catch up or find another DPL.
Thanks for this, it is Ready for PL!
This is going to be a long project so I quite understand that you may wish to prioritise other things.
Cheers!
PL Notes
1:05 "I would not play the bossy meddler's part" should be "...play the busy meddler's part"
(optional) 7:32 "have still disbarred me" s/b "have still debarred me"
(optional) 8:07 I'm not a spanish speaker, but I think "Aranjuez" is pronounced something like "a-ran-hweth"
9:15 "leed be hither" should be "led me hither"
11:57 I think an edit went wrong here, I hear "Your crowd of courtiers and your tribe of sallow monks" instead of "Your crowd of courtiers,
And your long train of cringing, trembling nobles,
Your tribe of sallow monks,"
24:21 "O father <indistinct> indeed" should be "O father ill indeed"
27:01 "and the atonement now must be speedy absence" s/b "... be my speedy ..."
28:57.5 "intimitable" s/b "inimitable"
30:32 "I accept the anger princess" s/b "I accept the wager princess"
33:45 "mocking friends" s/b "mocking fiends"
37:40 "most mighty reasons" s/b "most weighty reasons"
41:00-41:03 missed edit. "a heavenly song ... spot"
42:25 "I will tell thee" s/b "I tell thee"
Regards,
Adrian
