Hi Winnifred,
I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get my volume between the 86 to 92 dB level in Audacity. Would you know how to verify what the level is at in Audacity on a Mac and then adjust? Thanks in advance for your help!
Natalie
Hi Natalie,

Yes, that’s a tricky one. The only way to check volume in Audacity is by downloading and installing a plugin called ReplayGain. The top post in the 1-minute test forum contains information and links about that and about the standalone tool Checker, which can measure your MP3 file for that and other information. (Sorry, I’m on a phone right now so can’t give links easily.)

However, there is an easy way to ensure your volume is correct in Audacity. Select the entire track of your Audacity file, click Effect > Loudness Normalization, then set that to -19LUFS and “perceived loudness,” then click Apply. That will bring your volume to 89-90 dB right away.

Let me know if you still have questions.

Cheers,
Thank you so much! I will work on that tomorrow. :)

Hi all,

I'm going to be away from my computer from Saturday, March 30 through Saturday, April 6. During that time, I can accept new claims/submissions and put them into the Magic Window, but not run new submissions through the Checker (I'll do that when I return).

Cheers,
Winnifred

They’re yours. I added you to the Librivox catalogue as 0ans4ar. If you want to change that later, you can ask one of the admins to do so. If you click on your name in the
Magic Window, you can see your catalogue page with a list of your readings (in progress and completed).

Check out the first post in this thread for everything you need to know about recording and submitting your section.

Thanks,
Winnifred
