Oh, my goodness! Honestly, with the routines of life these past months, LibriVox itself has fallen off my radar, I'm ashamed to say. I'm so sorry to have left you hanging all this time!

Thank you for reminding me! I have a bunch of chapters which I recorded last summer, when I was off from work with the busted arm, and never got around to editing them. I will dig them up out of storage, and get to work editing. I have 2 days off soon, and I promise I'll leave myself a note to "EDIT LV!!" during that time.

You really should read me the riot act! But thank you for being too kind to do that.

Maria, if you're interested, I would be willing to help you edit. Then you could listen to what I've done and either tweak or OK it.

Or if you prefer full control, that's fine, too. 8-)

Tricia, thank you for the offer! I've never had someone else edit for me before, but I'm willing to hand over a chapter and we'll see what happens.

My editing mostly deals with (1) outright stumbles and stutters, the usual stuff we all have, (2) occasional loud mouth-clicks at the breath-taking spaces, (which I usually remove with the de-clicker over the area where it happens), and (3) those times when I just read the same phrase multiple times, not because of any stumbles, but simply to get a version that pleases me, (usually because of changing my mind about which words I want to emphasize more, or to calm down my strong Rochester accent.)

If this sounds like a type of editing you wouldn't mind tackling, I could upload the FLAC file for Chapter 17 for you.

I want to get back into practice editing myself, too, so I'll tackle the next couple of chapters on my day off Monday. But if you could get me launched by starting me off with one chapter done, it would make me feel like the log-jam is broken!

That sounds about like what I do for myself. So sure - throw it at me, and we'll see what happens! :P

On the multiple version ones, is it almost always the last one that you keep?

Thanks! I will upload the file.

Usually the "keeper" is the last version. Sometimes I have a go once too often, and my voice cracks, or I stumble, or whatever on the last version. If the previous version sounds obviously better, then keep that one. i trust your judgement. (We've worked together often enough that you have an idea what my finished work usually sounds like.)

Here's the FLAC of the edited file: https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/bicyclingforladies_17_edited.flac
and here's an MP3: https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/bicyclingforladies_17_edited.mp3

I think it sounds good how it is, but I didn't know if you wanted to do any post-production. :)

Thank you, Tricia! It's too late to listen tonight, but I will listen tomorrow. I'm sure the file is fine.
I'll tackle chapter 18 on Monday!

Chapter 17 sounded fine, Tricia! The only change I made was to adjust the volume slightly, to match it to the earlier sections.
Normally, you would now PL it. But since you already listened as you edited, and then I also listened, I suppose we can just mark it PL OK.

18 PL OK!

I do want to give 17 a once-over, just in case, but I don't expect any troubles with it. :) EDIT: It's OK!
