Hi Sarah,

Thanks, but your file needs several technical corrections before it'll be ready for PL. The Checker is telling me that the bit rate is 116 kbps (variable) rather than 127 kbps (constant), the volume is 103.9 kB (rather than between 86 and 92 kB), there's a high amount of background noise that needs cleaning, and there's not enough silence at the end (Librivox requires 5 seconds). I listened to the first couple of minutes, and I heard what sounded like train horns in the background.

If you're uncertain how to correct these settings and you use Audacity, check out this page for instructions on how to correct your setup (with screenshots), and how to re-export with the correct settings. You'll first need to apply Loudness Normalization (under Effect), set to -19LUFS, to bring the volume down to the correct range, and Noise Reduction (Also under Effect), to correct the background noise. (check out this YouTube video about how to do that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzVxubRO4gI). Word of caution: this amount of adjustment may lead to a deterioration of sound quality, particularly since the volume is so high that there may be clipping once it's reduced.

Please make these corrections and reupload your file.

Winnifred, I'm sorry, but I need to let both parts of Chapter 6 go to another reader.

I've tried, but this was too big a first project for me. I'm going to head to poetry, or some shorter works. This should help me get technically proficient on Audacity.
