Fame and Fortune Weekly No 19 A Rise in Life-lt, by Frank Tousey (1853 - 1902)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/fame-and-fortune-weekly-no-19-a-rise-in-life-lt-by-frank-tousey/

Bob Chambers is a plucky young man who works in the Bayport Woolen Mills. He has a good rapport with nearly everyone he meets, including Ruby Norton, a young lady who also works at the Mill. One who isn't charmed by his character is the spoiled son of the Mill President, Dexter Pritchard. Dexter feels that his position in the town should give him free pick of any girl, especially Ruby. While normal life keeps Bob quite busy, the addition of a Mill strike gives Bob challenges that will test his mettle and help him to prove his worth to Rise in Life. (Summary by Keith Salis)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Like a story that we wish was never ending, we know sometime we must reach the final page. Still we carry on just pretending that there'll always be one more book to go. - Fading Lights, Genesis

Oops! Thanks. My notification still says #18. You'd think I'd be good at this by now. :)

Ch 8 is ready.
I've been to several German-speaking countries and I don't recall ever hearing the phrase, "I ped you." After this, I may start screening these before I attempt them. What you hear is about a third of my trials at getting Jake's lines right...and they still aren't perfect, I ped you!
