Thanks for updating it, Larry!silverquill wrote: ↑January 24th, 2024, 9:56 amHere this is again with the suggested corrections:Rapunzelina wrote: ↑January 24th, 2024, 9:39 am For chapter 12 I have only a couple of differences in the intro/outro to note, in case they need fixing:
~0:22, I think the "section title" would include chapter # too, since it's included in the Magic Window section titles.
~15:53, outro instructions ask for "end of chapter #", the recording has "end of section #".

Here is my file. This was my first time doing a whole chapter and figuring out all the editing stuff so be sure to let me know if or what I need to change. Thanks!

That's great. Editing can be pretty fun really. At least that's what I try to convince myself of.
Thank you for this!

Chapter 12 is PL OK!
Chapter 7 is great, nicely read and sound is clear. It is just a bit louder than desired. It would probably be best to de-amplify by 5dB, that's "Amplify" by "-5"

A brilliant reading, just an intro and a filename note:Dreita wrote: ↑January 25th, 2024, 2:09 pm Howdy! I absolutely loved this chapter the most of any I've had on librivox!! but now im so itchy to be out in the garden already lol

~0:22, I think the "section title" would include chapter # too, since it's included in the Magic Window section titles.
Filename requires two digits ##, so it would be botany_03_wright_128kb.mp3

A bright and cheerful reading! A few text PL notes:
~0:24, I think the "section title" would include chapter # too, since it's included in the Magic Window section titles.
4:50 title is "The Utility of Plant Life", I think I hear "unity" instead
7:56 title is "The Study of Plant Life", I think I hear "story" instead
12:02 text is "we have found that some animals lack the digestive apparatus", the word "some" was skipped; I'm mentioning this because it makes it sound as if all animals lack the digestive apparatus which would be wrong.
As a new reader, you might be interested in technical feedback - if not, just ignore the following - but I wanted to mention that it looks like your microphone records in a high volume which you then decrease by de-amplification? If your microphone records in too high a volume, this might create clipping (you can see that in Audacity if you enable "Show Clipping", from the View menu). Clipping may cause sound distortion, which is not fixed by de-amplifying. If that is indeed the case, see if you can bring down your microphone's input volume so that it records in a lower volume in the first place - just take care not to go to the other extreme and drop the volume too low.
Hey Rapunzelina, here is my edited chapter 3 ready for spot check.
Thanks!
