The LibriVox Song
(To the tune of "I'm Henry the 8th I Am")

Quote:
I'll read for LibriVox dot org!
Read for Librivox dot org dot org!
I'll go post on the message board,
then I'll grab a micphone and record!
And every book will soon be read,
Written by the authors who are dead.
I'll head on over to LibriVox,
And read for LibriVox dot org!

(Don't worry. "I'm Henry the 8th I Am" is in the PD, so we're clear.)

Who wants to sing it with me? I can't sing, but I'll be willing to take the lead unless someone else wants to. Also, we need a PD midi file for the background music.

What do you think?

According to Wikipedia, it is a 1910 British music hall song. I'm assuming music works the same was as text in American copyright law.

Wikipedia also has a link to a 1911 78rpm recoding of it by Harry Champion.

It can be found here: http://www.archive.org/details/HarryChampion

It is remarkably good quality for such an early recording.

I'm definitely going to take a crack at this one. I'll post my rendition in a couple days. Thanks Daniel.

Here is a MIDI file of the Herman's Hermits version.

I can get it out for you.

"It was sad, so sad.
It was sad when the great ship went down
to the bottom of the sea
Husbands and wives..."

If that doesn't work try, "Oops I did it again, I played with your heart. Got lost in the game".

Either of those should displace henery the eighth. Then again, they'll be stuck instead.

Wow. I haven't heard that song in ages.... I learned that in summer camp, lo these many years ago.

A friend of mine likes to use the National Geographic theme to chase 'stuck' music out. It's strongly melodic, it's very short, and it doesn't loop. Very important, that last!

A regular infestation of earworms here.

"I'll tell you what I want, what I really, really want..."

I recorded two versions

http://librivox.ductapeguy.net/librivox ... 20Song.mp3

And one of the disclaimer that didn't make the cut for the podcast.
http://librivox.ductapeguy.net/librivox ... 20Song.mp3

I also have the guitar accompaniment on its own. If anyone wants to join in on the nonsense let me know and I'll post it.
