The Tree Man Ghost, half tree, half man, half ghost!
Thank you, Dale! An excellent narration as always. I have one comment, but up to you if you'd like to act on it. In the story are mentioned Strathspey, the region around the strath of the River Spey, and the river itself, River Spey, which you accidentally read as River Spry at around 1:08. I'll mark the section PL OK but feel free to upload a new file if you decide to make the change.
Here's my reading of one of my favourite classic scary stories. If you like this tale too and enjoy modern reworkings, I can definitely recommend two of my favourite 21st century novels: Mexican Gothic by Silvia Morena-Garcia, and What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher.
Thanks for the chance to be a part of something so great on so many levels

P.S. If you're wondering about my weird accent I was born just out of London but now live in the windy capital of New Zealand
Hello LeviLarsen and a Happy New Year to you too!
The text you used is not the same as the originally published in 1839. It looks like a simplified version for students of English. Would you be willing to read the original from gutenberg.org at https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/932 ?
Tech specs wise, the only thing you'd need to adjust in your recording setup is the sample rate to 44100Hz; it's currently set to 48000Hz. Everything else, including the volume which is the hardest, is spot on!

Hey Rapunzelina
Oh my goodness haha I had no idea that I was reading a non-original text! Thank you for linking me to the original, and noting the minor tech adjustment very happy to redo, I shall endeavour to get that done this weekend have a good one!
Hi again Rapunzelina, hope you had a good weekend unfortunately stuff has come up and I'm not in a position to redo this one or contribute to this project at this time, so if you could please clear my slot for someone else to contribute. Hopefully things calm down and I can contribute to Librivox sometime in the future
Take care and best

Here's an interesting one. Did you know that celebrated playwright Tennessee Williams' first published story was for Weird Tales? And that it was a horrific tale of Egyptian revenge? Neat, huh?
I noticed an accidental word substitution if you could correct, around 12:58 the text is "alive with vermin" but I hear olive instead. This story will go to collection 72, I'll post a link to it as soon as I've launched it!
