At the time of posting, in a few hours, this will be in the public domain in the US (according to Wikipedia, at least), and is probably the most famous (or infamous...) book from 1928 (The House at Pooh Corner and Orlando: A Biography being close contenders). To be honest, I'm pretty sure someone's already getting this ready to post...

I have not been able to locate a text which is definitely PD in the USA. All the Archive scans are later editions or on restricted access. Gutenberg USA does not have it yet. Gutenberg Australia does have it but does not say what edition it is. Only a 1928 edition could be used for LV right now. This book went through many revised editions from 1928 onwards. The publishers of the early editions removed a lot of the obscene words and explicit sexual references.

These are all 1928 editions: https://archive.org/search?query=lady+chatterley%27s+lover&and%5B%5D=mediatype%3A%22texts%22&and%5B%5D=year%3A%5B1917+TO+1929%5D

They'll flip the switch on them at some point, so they're full view. It's best to wait until that happens, which may take hours - not sure if it's automated or not.
School fiction: David Blaize
America Exploration: The First Four Voyages of Amerigo Vespucci
Serial novel: The Wandering Jew
Medieval England meets Civil War Americans: Centuries Apart
