Section 11 PL Notes:
Firstly, well read. You have a pleasant cadence and dealt well with a sombre text. Don't be discouraged by the PL notes. I know you had some Audacity trouble.
  • 00:00 The volume of this track is 91.97dB. LV requires the overall volume for the track (measured by ReplayGain - you can try this tool if you want to check the volume) to be between 86-92dB (with 89dB being the ideal). The file falls within the outer ends of that range and so doesn't need to be changed but watch that it doesn't end up outside the range. The easiest way to automatically set the volume is to use the 'Loudness Normalization' effect (set to -19LUFS in 'perceived loudness' mode) in recent versions of Audacity before exporting the track as an MP3. If you use RMS normalization, set it to -21dB. Another way would be to use the Amplify effect set to -3dB.
  • 00:00 There were quite a few long pauses in this track. We try to avoid silences of more than 2 seconds because the listener might wonder whether there's something wrong with the file. The easiest way to fix it automatically is to use the Truncate Silence effect. The settings are -25dB, 2 seconds, "Truncate Detected Silence", 1.5 seconds.
  • 00:01 Max 1 second of silence at the start of the track please!
  • 09:24 Long pause
  • 11:05 Missed edit ('the' cuts off)
  • 16:16 Long pause
  • 22:52 Missed edit ('hot')
  • 24:00 Long pause
  • 24:43 We need 5 exactly seconds of silence at the end of the track (as close as you can make it).
For fastest spot checks, you can copy these notes and change the timestamps to the new time so I know where to check.

Here are corrections :

Thanks, those were very helpful settings. I tried to visually correct my page turning silences/ rests but obviously it didn't work, or it was the tracks issue!

Here is section 3.

I will try to get my other two to you tonight as well, provided my cats give me some peace and quiet. This is by no means guaranteed.

I see that you have been unable to secure a reader for the Riming Poem (section 34), and it's no wonder, since you want the Old English read. I have been studying Old English off and on for the last year and a half and I'm willing to give it a go. However, there are quite a lot of characters here with which I'm unfamiliar. (My basic beginner's guide to Old English didn't cover some of these!) So I will find another source with this poem transcribed into characters I can read. :D

I've assigned this to you optimistically. Thanks for trying it. There's a link in the notes field to an audio version that you could potentially copy.

I asked my librarian about the noise, and she said, "no one would come here
if they weren't allowed to talk out loud." So I read out loud.

Je lis à haute voix car refléchir fait trop de bruit!

Sections 3 & 4 are PL OK! You always appear at unexpected points in my projects and I start listening and think "Who's that good reader with good audio?" and it turns out to be you. Great work on a wooden translation.
