You know you're addicted to LV when...

Everything except LibriVox (yes, this is where knitting gets discussed. Now includes non-LV Volunteers Wanted projects)

I, who am unable to spell, diagnos you with the LibriVox bug, type C, with some symptoms of the PD bug, type E.

Treatment: I'm sorry, but there is no known treatment. You will just have to live out the rest of your life here.

That's not so bad... as long as you can get people to sit still long enough for you to read aloud to them.

Two tin cans an a string works mighty well one-on-one.

So if we're left with directly reading to our audience -- cans or sans cans -- then that begs the question....

Would we need to keep the disclaimer?

You know you're addicted to Librivox when...

You are using the "voice" feature on your family's Mac to help you look for errors in the chapters of the novel you're writing.

And you add to the beginning of each file so that your listening experience always begins with...

"This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox recordings are in the public domain..."

I know this is a old thread, but,

You know your addicted to Librivox when,

Your 6 year old brother comes up to your sister while she's PL'ing, and says, "This is a Librivox recording. All Librivox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit Librivox.org" (or, maybe my brother's addicted) :D

You know you're addicted when you're sitting at home doing homework for you Joyce seminar on the couch, and the phone rings and you answer:

"Chapter Six of Ulysses read for LibriVox.org by Kirsten Ferreri. Oh...um. Hi."

when you're clicking your tongue whenever you make a mistake when reading for yourself. (for those who click)
Put yourself in the Readers' Accents Table. See this post.

Or you snap your fingers when you make a mistake reading a poem out loud in class!
I remember how, in college, I got that part-time job as a circus clown, and how the children would laugh and laugh at me. I vowed, then and there, that I would get revenge.

Or you hear a professor make a remark about the copyright battles over Ulysses between Stephen Joyce and the academic community, and the VERY FIRST thing you write down is:

"MUST CHECK PD STATUS FOR LIBRIVOX!!!"

(btw, we're in the clear as far as I could tell :D )

......when you give up cigarettes hoping that your voice will sound better on the recordings. guess i'm better off without the nicotine so i should really be thanking librivox for shifting me to a more healthy and useful addiction.

Well, I feel sorry for all you poor people that have fallen victim to this horrible addiction. And you all sound like you are proud to have grown dependent on a habit that is wreaking havoc on your family, your career, your pets....

Please, get some help, people!

By the way, I have a long list of PD self-help books I'd like to record for LV in the near future....

gotta go...
