Software: Audacity. OS: Windows. Mic: Audio-Technica condenser mic. Maximum intake volume, plus amplify and noise reduction effect.
1 Min. Test [OK]
Greetings Ed
I reviewed your test sample, and while it sounds good there are some technical changes needed. LibriVox requires audio that is 128kbps constant bit rate, 44.1kHz sample rate, mono, and between 86db and 92db, preferably 89-90. Your test audio volume is too high at 95.6db. It also appears to be severely condensed or limited. There is a lot of audio distortion. The wave forms should not be chopped off that severely. It appear that a hard limiter was used at -5db.
Adjust the input gain on your mic so your raw recording has wave forms that peak at about the 0.5 marks in the Audacity window and look more like this:
If necessary, adjust the volume level before exporting by going to Effects>Amplify.
You can pre-check your audio yourself by downloading the free Checker app: https://cgjennings.ca/projects/checker/
Passed with Warnings is a fail with regard to volume.
Please make a new test recording and post it in a reply to this message. I will come back and review it for you.

Hello. Sorry for the volume issue. I was having problems getting the focusrite drivers to deliver enough volume to pass the test. I am new to audacity and editing the volume to the correct db. So I removed the driver and tried again. Here is my newest test. Thank you for taking time to review it.

Okay, that works. I've used a Solo, but only on a Mac, which requires no drivers.
You are good to go.
Happy narrating!
