Section 60 is PL ok. It's a good thing the wife didn't speak her hysteria to anyone but her husband back then or they both might have bee hanged.Kitty wrote: ↑October 7th, 2023, 11:46 am 60 is ready and I loved it because it showed a sensible approach to this hysteria for once. Gotta love that husband !

Thank you Christine!
And thank you Nichole for resurrecting this project.
I fully agree that the story lines can be distressing. I freely admit that before I read any of them I was of the uninformed opinion that "the witches" were demented but now I've come to believe that it was probably the other way round. Could well still be that way today ...
If I were you I'd claim a Gold-Killer role. Just sayin'

I have assigned you section 62! Thank you.
You're welcome! When I saw it as a solo project I was bummed because I wanted to read it then, so when it was abandoned I HAD to resurrect it and make it a group project.BrianFullen wrote: ↑October 10th, 2023, 7:15 amThank you Christine!

I've recently learned the etymology of the word "witch" goes back to the same origin word as the word "wise". So witch = wise woman?
I'm glad she's writing it from a "modern" (~170 years after the events, or 1860s) perspective of speculation and using the actual trial transcripts that were available to her at the time with he own sarcastic spin on them. The accusers seemed often to target people generally who they could get a payout from the demise of, whether monetarily or socially. It's devastating, but something I hope our systems and understanding of psychology today can help to avoid.
interesting trials again. I loved Margaret Simons' flippant answer to the vicar's voice being hoarse it's a miracle she got free after this.

And might as well be flippant if you're facing death for something preposterous!
