A collection of poems by the English poet Algernon Charles Swinburne, first published in 1904 and dedicated to the artist and designer William Morris.

The first poem is a tribute to the Elizabethan poet Sir Philip Sidney and his sonnet sequence Astrophil and Stella.

Our first completed section

Swinburne was educated at Eton, where he won prizes for French and Italian, and also at Oxford. He later travelled extensively in France and Italy as young men of his class and wealth tended to do in those days (the "Grand Tour" as it was called)
