Lectures on the Harvard Classics, edited by Charles William Eliot (1834 - 1926) and William Allan Neilson (1869 - 1946)
The Lecture Series on the contents of The Harvard Classics ought to do much to open that collection of literary materials to many ambitious young men and women whose education was cut short by the necessity of contributing in early life to the family earnings, or of supporting themselves, "and who must therefore reach the standing of a cultivated man or woman through the pleasurable devotion of a few minutes a day through many years to the reading of good literature" (Introduction to The Harvard Classics.) The Series will also assist many readers to cultivate "a taste for serious reading of the highest quality outside of The Harvard Classics as well as within them." (Ibid.) It will certainly promote the accomplishment of the educational object I had in mind when I made the collection. (Summary by Charles William Eliot)

I will DPL.

I have initially only linked the two editors as Authors and will fill in the 60 authors with their links in the MW. We have Author pages for them all on Wikisource and therefore they are also on Wikidata.

OK, your MW is ready, and you are in as DPL! I took the liberty to shorten your file name, this will make life easier for readers. I also recommend that you add the word "edited" to your intro and final outro for the authors. It should look like this...
"Lectures on the Harvard Classics, edited by Charles William Eliot and William Allan Neilson.
As far as linking all the lecturers in this book, you really don't need to since this is one single book. We do link all the authors in a collection that has many sources for the text. But not necessarily for a single book. I would recommend that each section has the title of the lecture followed by the speaker's name. If I was doing this, I would have it as...
Ancient History, by Professor William Scott Ferguson
...and leave it like that. It is up to you, since it is your project. I am only recommending this to save you a lot of work.

Thank you! Both suggestions are exactly what I was thinking of doing.

In re the lecturers, won't we still want them as authors in the database? Or is there some other way of doing that automagically?

I'll eat breakfast, then sort the MW out.

Firstly, oh my goodness! There is some juicy stuff in this one! I would like to claim sections 7 and 8, pretty please!

As far as making the individual authors searchable, we don't require them to be searchable since this is just one book. In my massive Great Events by Famous Historians project, I have not made the individual authors searchable because it is way too much work. I have the author in the title, the listener could do their own research on that author on their own, if they would like. Like I said, you can decide to have the author searchable, but it is a huge amount of work for you to do. I don't know how many of the professors are already in our author database, but having those professors all searchable will create a lot of work for others as well. If all are there, then the work is just on you. If not, then others get dragged into it.

We did this one over on Wikisource in January 2011 and I had forgotten just how lovely a collection it is. Sections 7 & 8 are yours.

I'm happy to accept your advice on the authors. I doubt that most of them will already be in the LV database and the bibliographic information is already in Wikidata, so essentially it would be duplicating that effort. I'm happy with not doing the extra. Thanks.

I would claim section 40 - Huxley on Science and Culture, by A. O. Norton, please.
Just a note, isn't this one volume - 51 - of many?

Section 40 assigned to you with thanks.

Yes, this is the final volume of The Harvard Classics. The first 49 volumes contain many of the various works referred to in the Lectures. But as we already host many of those works in other recensions I'm not so keen on working through the "Five-Foot Shelf of Books".
