Hello all!
I have recorded my first section and am in the process of trying to edit. I am attempting to cut and replace an unwanted phrase.
Using the i-beam selector tool, I clicked at the beginning of the phrase I wanted to replace, then
I hit shift/record to open a new track. I have actually done this before and I do not know why It is giving me difficulty now.
As soon as I hit shift/record, the top track begins to play from where the cursor is placed, and the second track is recording that.
I want to record a new phrase in that second track. Will someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? Lol

You may have got 'overdub' turned on by accident. Check Edit > Preferences > Recording > Play other tracks while recording
The preferences may have changed since my version of Audacity, but see if you can find an option like that.
