Thank you! There are just a few more things to take care of for section 5:

- At 14:35, "and the Princess saw them as calmly as if they had been part of a large aquarium," part of the audio falls a bit below an audible level.
- At 24:16, "and I'd as soon go near them as I would pat Cerberus," you say "and I'd soon as go near them as I would pat Cyberus" (p. 140).
- From 25:17 to 26:22 (the top of p. 142 to "got into the chariot" at the top of p. 143), I'm having difficulty with the sound because it's so low that I need to amplify it quite a bit, but when I do, the plosive sounds are much louder than the rest of the audio, even after compressing. I don't know of a way to edit the existing audio that would address the sound issues, so I would suggest re-recording this passage.
- At 26:47, "However, in a few minutes," you say "However, in a few moments" (p. 143).
- At 27:11, "When the moonlight o'er the azure seas," I hear "When the moonlight oh yer the azure seas" (p. 143).
- Could you change the filename to feather_05_ford_128kb.mp3?
- I'm seeing that the volume level is at 76.2 dB, which falls below the target range of 87-92. I would recommend amplifying the redone sections first, since they're at a lower volume than the rest of the audio, then amplifying the entire file to fall within the target range. Let me know if you have questions about anything!
For the time being, I'll need a little more time than usual to PL sections that come in on weekdays. Thanks for your patience.

Thank you, Rholdah! I'm catching up on PLing lately, so I didn't have a chance to listen to section 6 today, but I should be able to tomorrow.

Hi Scarbo,

Please find the revised chapter 5 here, https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/Feather_05_ford_128kb.mp3

I have tried reedit the chapter and input the edit at the same sound levels as the original piece, I have listened to it and there are a few fluctuations but I think it is much better than it was before.

I await your feed back,

Have a good day

Thank you! There are just a few more things to take care of for section 6:

- At 15:27, "In a few minutes heavy footsteps were heard outside," you say "In a few moments heavy footsteps were heard outside" (p. 171)
- At 15:36, "She seemed a perfect mass of blacking and dust," I hear "She seemed a perfect mass of blackening and dust" (p. 171)
- At 17:25, after "a long green tail with a fork at the end," could you include the line "and it stuck the fork in the egg"? (p. 173)
- At 17:25, "and then put the egg in the blacking and threw it all over the kitchen; and then it kicked the blacking pot over and flew out at the door," I hear "and then put the egg in the blackening and threw it all over the kitchen; and then it kicked the blackening pot over and flew out at the door" (p. 173)
- At 17:58, "a-frightening a poor lone-lorn woman," I hear "a-frightening a poor lorn lone woman" (p. 173)
- Could you change the filename to feather_06_ford_128kb.mp3 (all lowercase)?
- I'm seeing in Checker that the sampling rate is 48 kHz but should be 44.1 kHz. If you go to your Audacity settings and change the default sample rate under the Quality tab per these instructions, then import the file and export it again, that should fix it!
- I'm seeing that the volume is at 95.8 dB. Could you lower it a bit to fall within the target range of 87-92 dB?

Let me know if you have questions about anything!

It will probably be tomorrow before I'm done spot-PLing section 5.
For the time being, I'll need a little more time than usual to PL sections that come in on weekdays. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Scarbo,

Please find the revised Chapter 6 here, inline with the PL Notes:
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/Feather_06_Ford_128kbp.mp3

the version of Audacity that I have don't appear to have a volume adjustment setting but in preferences I have change the settings to 44.1kHz, forced to mono and 16bit.

I trust that this is now correct.

thank you
kind regards

Thank you! There are just a few more edits to make and then section 6 will be good to go:

- Could you shorten the beginning silence to 0.5-1 second(s)?
- At 15:36, "She seemed a perfect mass of blacking and dust," I hear "She seemed a perfect mass of blackening and dust" (p. 171)
- Could you change the filename to feather_06_ford_128kb.mp3 (all lowercase)?
- I'm seeing in Checker that the volume is at 97.7 dB. Does your version of Audacity have Effect>Amplify? It seems counterintuitive, but "Amplify" is also used to lower the volume. If you put "-7" in the blank, that should bring the volume to within the target range. If you don't have the Amplify tool, let me know and I'll take care of it.
For the time being, I'll need a little more time than usual to PL sections that come in on weekdays. Thanks for your patience.

Amy, this project is ready for cataloging, when it's convenient for you! Could you use the current summary in the first post? I've edited it since launching the project. Thank you!

Sure thing, Sarah. I'll get started
