The Mantle and Other Stories, by Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol (1809 - 1852), translated by Claud Field (1863 - 1941)

This project is now complete. All files can be downloaded from the catalog page here:https://librivox.org/the-mantle-and-other-stories-by-nikolai-vasilievich-gogol/[/color]
Celebrated Ukranian-born author Nikolai Gogol brings us this collection of masterfully grotesque and fantastical stories. These tales are filled with death, madness, ghosts, rampant bureaucracy, the tragedy of human existence and mean streak of dark absurdist humor. (Summary by Ben Tucker)

Target completion date:

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

That's an accepted way of starting a section 0. I've done it on several recordings and I think there's even something in the FAQ about it sounding more natural.

it is acceptable - and section 0 does sound a little weird :D . But either is acceptable .
history The " section x of" bit was asked for so that readers (particularly those with visual handicaps) could find the place to resume listening easily so not using it for section 0 is OK , Many readers do include the preface in section 1.

Anne

Off to going solo.....
