The Mystery at Lovers' Cave, by Anthony Berkeley (1893 - 1971)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-mystery-at-lovers-cave-by-anthony-berkeley/

Volunteers outside the USA: Anthony Berkeley died in 1971. This person's work may still be protected by copyright in countries where copyright duration is determined by the author's death date. In Europe this is 70 years; in Canada it is 70 years for authors who died after 1971; and in Australia it is 70 years for authors who died after 1955.
Roger and his cousin Anthony are ready to head out on vacation, when a phone call from Scotland Yard sends the duo scuttling down to Hampshire to investigate the possible murder of a Mrs. Vane, who had disappeared on her way to visit a friend. Local police and newspapers reported the death as accidental, but officers at Scotland Yard has their doubts. At this point, they call in amateur sleuth Roger Sheringham to investigate.

My first entry, felt I had a lot of inconsistency in general, and my mic could be better. Much more editing and whipping Audacity to get it to cooperate too! It was nice to work the nerves out.

Chapter 2

The reading itself is very good

There is quite a bit of background noise, which should be cleaned up. https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Noisecleaning_With_Pics

Please resubmit the file with the same file name.

Okay! I didn't realize just how much noise there was until I ran it through cleaning. It makes me feel much better about the quality of my mic, USB mic it may be. Newbie stuff. The poor quality to my ear was just all that awful background noise. Odd, too, since the apartment was very quiet! Hopefully that's better. If so, I would be fine with taking chapter 3. Thank you!

I always run noise cleaning on my files.
To a certain extent, you get what you pay for on mics… but for the first 5 years or so, I had the cheapest I could get on Amazon and it worked fine. But Santa brought me a Blue Yeti one year, and it is definitely better.

Chapter 3 is yours.
