Slave Narratives: A Folk History of Slavery in the United States from Interviews with Former Slaves, Volume V, Indiana Narratives , by Various

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/slave-narratives-a-folk-history-of-slavery-in-the-united-states-from-interviews-with-former-slaves-volume-v-indiana-narratives-by-various/

These volumes of slave narratives are the product of the Federal Writers Project sponsored by the Library of Congress and the Work Project Administration. They consist of verbatim records of personal interviews with former slaves conducted during 1936-1938

"These life histories, taken down as far as possible in the narrators' words, constitute an invaluable body of unconscious evidence or indirect source material, . . . The narratives belong to folk history—history recovered from the memories and lips of participants or eye-witnesses,” This is Volume Five for the state of Alabama, in a series of 34 volumes. (Summary by Larry Wilson)

Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Setting this up.

Ready to go. Was it intentional to set this up as a solo?

Yep!
Actually, this is going to be a duet with PhyllisV
I've been DPL for a number of her solo projects and she was interested in doing this together.
I thought the solo format would work best,

Would it be possible to set her up as co-BC so she can have access to the MW

It will be a week or two before we start -- unless I'm able to get a head start.

The long group project is almost finish, with just a few stragglers, so I may set the next one up soon.
I'm going to do Ohio next which has only 33 sections.

Thanks so much for taking these under your wing. :9:

Thanks, Phyllis!
I may not get off to such a fast start -- some setbacks in our situation here.

Larry, no problem at all. If it feels overwhelming and you'd like me to take some of the male sections, I'd be happy to. So far the female sections are very short. But I don't mind at all if you are running behind - whatever works best for you.
