Thank you so much! :D
That's great!
I've added added you to the LibriVox catalog and assigned you Section 28.
Just click on your name in the Magic Window to view your personal reader page. This is where you can track all of your LV projects of which I hope there will be many!

WELCOME TO LIBRIVOX

Thank you for a nice reading!
Only thing that needs attention are the silences, just a bit too long
Shorten the beginning and ending by one second each, and it will be perfect.

Upload under the same file name and post link here again for a quick check.

Hello, here is my first Librivox contribution. I'm excited to receive feedback as I'm sure there are opportunities. After this is complete I would love to take any other open pieces by this author...I really like him!

Thank you for taking on this longer poem!
It is a good reading.

Just a few things that need attention.

1). The volume is too low at only 85.1 decibels. Our target is 89 with an acceptable range of 86-92 dBs.
This one you can fix by using the amplify feature in Audacity. Just set it for 3 dBs

Of course it is best to work with your settings and recording setup to get your raw recording closer to the target.
Here is a little program that will give you actual decibel reading and also check for other LV specs:

Checker https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Checker, written specifically for LibriVox. Just drag a file into the Checker window to check validation on all LV specs, including a readout of actual volume in decibels. Use the Amplification feature in Audacity to bring the volume closer to the LV target of 89 dB

Here is another method demonstrated by Phil Chenevert:
89 Decibels? Easy Peasy ! https://youtu.be/aSKR55RDVpk

2) The silence at the end is just a bit too long. We like something close to 5 seconds, and this has 6 seconds.

I also find the pause between the end of your narration too long. I usually aim for about just one 1 second, 2 at the most. Same for the gap between the intro and beginning of the reading of the poem. Too much dead space is usually uncomfortable to the listener.

At any rate, please adjust the volume and ending silence, then upload under the same file name and post the new link and time here again for a quick check.

And, since you expressed a desire to read something else by this author, I will put you in for Section 39 The Brush which is our last open section (pending one I'm holding). If you don't want to record this, let me know.

Phil's videos are so helpful! Here is a new link with revisions:

Hopefully it works, I ran it through Checker but it still sounds a bit quiet to me. Once it's complete, I am excited to begin on "The Brush"

Section 19 repost
Time: 01:32

Please let me know if I overdid it cutting the space at the beginning...I can trim back to add more silence/room tone if needed.

Thanks!

section 13 - "The Caves of Josephine" <--- love this poem!

Sorry about the URL omission last night for the old cypress...
Not a problem
Both of these are PL OK

Glad you are enjoying yourself here on LibriVox
Thank you!
I'm not seeing section 36 tagged as PL OK in MW... or in my reader section view. Should I be concerned?

Thank you!
Glad to mark this PL OK
Thanks for working on this.

It could use a little noise reduction to eliminate the background hum. It is slight, so not a big problem at all -- just something to consider next time.

Well, the beginning is just fine, at about 1/2 second. You did cut too much off the end, however. We're looking for about 5 seconds, and you went from 6 to just 3 1/2

These aren't the most earthshaking issues, but I want you to get used to adjusting them as a matter of routine. This is the same for all LV projects.

Also, please do not add anything to the file when you upload; just use the original file name.

Thanks for working on this, and for the fine reading!

Yes, you should be VERY concerned, because this means your BC neglected to toggle the MW to PL OK.
Never hurts to give him a nudge, Thank you. It should be all set now.
