The Count's Millions and Baron Trigault's Vengeance, by Émile Gaboriau (1832 - 1873)

This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

The wealthy Count de Chalusse is struck with apoplexy and dies without a will, leaving Marguerite the orphan (daughter?) he adopted penniless. It is discovered that 2 million francs which were in the count's possession the day before are now missing. At the same time as all this is happening the Marquis de Valorsay who is on the brink of financial ruin courts Marguerite to gain access to her supposed fortune. To succeed, he must find a way to remove the young advocate Pascal whom she loves from the picture. Meanwhile an heir seeker and his enterprising young investigator look for another possible heir which leads them to a renowned gambling house and its owner. As the vile conspiracy of Valorsay and his accomplice becomes evident, a rich gambler Baron Trigault and Pascal join forces and with determination and ingenuity not only manage to thwart the plans of their persecutors but to exact a sweet revenge!!!! IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

All set. If you can think of a good way to shorten the title in the filenames, please do!

Also if you want the use The Count's Millions as the title in the intro for the first 23 files and then switch to Baron Trigault's Vengeance for 24-46, I think that would be OK.

Hi again!

I'm thinking that if you want to shorten it we could change the file name to countsmillionsin2volumes_##_gaboriau_128kb.mp3. I've seen it mentioned that way somewhere. What do you think?

I leave it up to you of course. I'm fine with anything you decide. :)

Over and out!! Nightie night!
