Before this reading is finished, someone French may track me down and kill me.

I'm sure the French government has invested in experimental linguistical sensor networks capable of detecting the French-language being debased anywhere in the world and is even now dispatching assassins to my position. Seems like the kind of thing they would do .

If you don't hear for me within two weeks expect the worst.

S’il vous plaît! Il est innocent. Enfin, pas trop coupable!
Let him go. We still have the whole book to record!

Still alive, and evading capture :D

How I feel reading blocks of French text;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hU0QZQRTNr0

And there is an entire page between me and the end of the chapter. This might take a little while.

...

Wouldn't mind learning French or German or Latin at some point. If I ever do learn French, I'm not sure if I'll want to revisit this recording.

Glad to hear that!

No hurry, and just as information: I noticed that Sonia (admin Kitty) seems very nice and ready to provide recordings of any required French text to be used by the reader as guidance - you could play it every night for five days while dozing off; then setting a timer for that to start playing, while you are sound asleep, every night for six days; then cooking a toad (well done), put it under your mic and place your laptop facing 73 degrees north of the pan (where you still have the toad water); then...

Currently I'm doing something similar (without the toads) by consulting how Google Translate's French voice thinks it should be pronounced. This way I can offload some of the onus for trashing the French language onto Google which won't defend itself (cue defamation lawsuit).

I'm being a little overly dramatic. I'm hoping the result won't be absolutely awful. Only. . . kind of bad.

As long as it sounds plausibly correct to the English ear, and intelligible to the French ear, I'll be satisfied. Of that I'll let you be the judge. I may reach out to Sonia for future chapters depending on what you think.

Apologies for the radio silence. But. . . I yet live.

Turns out planning a road trip across a continent is more involved than buying an airplane ticket!

But I'll be dropping in on a lot of interesting museums and historical sites :)

Rawr.

Well yesterday was my last day of work. And this morning I took a machete to the last three sentences of French clogging my path.

So. Expect an upload within an hour or so :D :D :D :D
