(Summary by )
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/69393

Target completion date: 2023-12-01

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

As soloist you are responsible for the Magic Window. Here is a video I made to show how to get access to it and then to keep it tidy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cDPSmlTjGM&t=99s

For example you will be entering your own name as assigned reader for all sections. We also need a DPL (dedicated proof listener) who will check your recordings for technical aspects and anything that may need fixing. A tilde ~ in front of the title advertises for one of these and I will put it there for you.
Please ask if anything is confusing.

I'd be happy to DPL this book, if you wish.

Another story from the 1950s that fell out of copyright - so cool!

Thank you Rich. For the soloist, you have approval rights for the DPL but I am going to welcome this young man because he is great! Moving this to Going Solo.

Since you can get into the magic window, that is excellent and you don't need my video. Once there, look for "Assign Reader Sections" . There will be a place then to put in the readers name. You should pick you name out of the options that drop down. Then put 1-9 in the box for what sections. This will assign all sections to you. When you record a section and upload it then you will put the Link under the column "Listen URL" into theproper section. More later.

Real Life happens; don't worry about that (but if you are going to be away for a couple months a short note helps the rest of us know what's going on). It's customary to post the link to your upload and how long the section is in the project thread. I see chapter 1 is 24+ minutes - I'll have some time to listen to that this afternoon.
