The Full Tide by John Frederick Freeman (1880 - 1929)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-full-tide-by-john-frederick-freeman/
John Frederick Freeman was an English poet and essayist, who gave up a successful career in insurance to write full-time. This romantic sea-side offering is taken from his POEMS NEW AND OLD (1920) (Summary by Wikipedia )
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.
Project Code: 0XimTK6R

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. When you post your file, please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog.

LibriVox recording settings: mono (1 channel), 44100 Hz sample rate, 128 kbps constant bit rate MP3. See the Tech Specs

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
Leave ½ to 1 second of silence at the beginning.
The Full Tide by John Frederick Freeman, read for librivox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, and/or your location.]
Then read the poem:
Now speaks the wave, whispering me of you;
In all his murmur your music murmurs too.
O 'tis your voice, my love, whispering in
The wave's voice, even your voice so far and thin;
And mine to yours answering clear is heard
In the high lonely voice of the last bird.

And when, my love, the full tide runneth again,
Shall yet the seabird call, call, call in vain?
Will not the tide wake in my heart and stir
The old rich happiness that's sunken there?
Thou moon of love, bid the retreated tide
Return, for which the wandering bird has cried.
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.

Welcoem to LibriVox Sonya :D good first reading. :thumbs: all is okay.

*The only comment is the ending silence, which is a little bit choppy compared to the rest of the reading. :wink:
