Here is one of the two poems I selected. By the Sea. Since it is only my second Librivox poem, apologies in advance for errors and I will be happy to fix whatever needs editing (a skill I am working on).
Thank you so much,

Kris

I will put you in for these, but I do need to know how you would like to be listed in the LibriVox catalog -- real name, pseudonym, or any nickname you wish. This is how you will be credited for all of your LV work.

Also note that the is a one month time limit for these short poems.

Just let me know.
I’ll send them in this weekend. List me as Laurel Drobits

I'm convinced poem #24 had faults in the beginning, "show-white purity" and such, so I made slight alterations to have it make sense. I hope that's ok. Couldn't find different source material for the poem. In the end, I feel like it still doesn't make all that much sense, but maybe that's art!

Thank you for very lovely readings of these poems!

I have one note for 23 and a couple for 24

I did find two scans of this book on Archive.org and they both show clearly "show white purity." Nonetheless, I do think this is a typo. The printed "h" and "n" are easily mistaken, and given the overall context of this poem, and the rest of the collection, "snow white" seems more probable.

Does the poem make sense?
It would be a challenging interpretation. At first it seems a personification of seasons, but then transitions to an introspection of the heart.
Poetry.

23
0:14 third line; Text: I seek my darling’s place of rest.
I hear “I seek my darling’s place to rest.”
(Just a subtle shift in meaning)

24
0:18 fourth line, Text: Can thrill her nor with love nor pity now
I hear “Can thrill her not with love nor pity now”
This is just a somewhat archaic way of using the correlative conjunction, “nor” often seen in poetry, but also in older prose.

0:33 Text: O’er eyes that had grown dim in one vain quest.
I hear, “O’er the eyes that had grown dim in one vain quest.”
(a bit picky, but as long as you have another correction to make . . .)

Just a side note: All of these are right at the upper limit for volume, so you might check this in future recordings.

Thanks again for the delightful renditions! :D

Thank you for your very nice reading of these poems.
I have marked them PL OK

Just a couple of comments for your consideration:

The file names for these are incorrect. You will always find the template to be used in the reader instructions in the first post of each project. For this project:

"Filename: sprayoflilac_##_hedderwickbrowne_128kb.mp3 where ## is the section number. (e.g. sprayoflilac_01_hedderwickbrowne_128kb.mp3)

We drop the initial "a" and the hyphen in the author's name. It is best just to copy and paste when naming the files.

No need to do anything about these. Our very talented MC will correct them at the end before sending this to the catalog.

Just on a FWIW basis, I find the gaps between your intros and the beginning of the reading of the poems a bit long, and adding the date and place, although it is fine to do so, I personally find a bit much for short poems.

Anyway, I do appreciate your good rendition of these poems and the good, clean recordings!
I hope we will hear a lot more of your voice here on LibriVox.

Thank you for your nice reading of these poems!

Just a few little details to take care of:

Dorothy

1. The beginning silence is a bit too long at 1 1/2 second. We need it to be between 1/2 - 1 second.
2.. The ending silence is also too long, and there are some noises and clicks near the end. Trim it to about just 5 seconds.
3. In the intro, please read "recording for LibriVox DOT ORG, which was omitted.
4. Since the title of the poem is in the intro, we don't need to have it repeated before reading the poem, so you can snip that out, along with the rather loud lip smack which I also hear just before, "end of poem."
5. Place and time of recording is really not necessary, especially for short poems like this, but you may include it if you really want to.

Her Window

1. The beginning silence is far too long at 4 1/2 second. We need it to be between 1/2 - 1 second.
2.. The ending silence is also too short, and there are some noises and clicks near the end to remove. Should be about 5 seconds.
3. In the intro, please read "recording for LibriVox DOT ORG, which was omitted.
4. Since the title of the poem is in the intro, we don't need to have it repeated before reading the poem, so you can snip that out, along with the rather loud lip smack which I also hear just before, "end of poem."

MOST IMPORTANT

You have the SECTION NUMBERS wrong for both of these. I'm not sure where the confusion came from.
Dorothy is Section 29
Her Window is Section 37

Please upload your corrected files with the proper section numbers, then post the links and new times here again and I'll check them over.

Thank you again for your participation. This stuff really does get easier.

Thanks for working on these, Laura.

Unfortunately, there are still issues needing attention.

BOTH of these have somehow been exported with a bit rate of 244 kbps instead of 128 as your first ones were.

Then, for both, the opening silence is still a bit too long. Needs to be less than one second, and the endings too short -- needs to be about 5 seconds.

And, for 37, there is a stray numeral at the end of the file name.

At least these things need to be corrected.
These sound like new recordings, and both could benefit from some moderate noise reduction. There is a noticeable background hum that I didn't hear in the first ones.

No need to do new recordings as all of the above can be done with editing.
Let me know i you need help with any of this. We're here to help. :)
