This project is now complete. All audio files can be found on our catalog page here:

https://librivox.org/hokitika-new-zealand-by-david-john-evans/

A pamphlet version of four papers on the beginnings of the town and borough of Hokitika on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand in the 1866. (Summary by Beeswaxcandle)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Hokitika,_N.Z. [N.B. this text was scanned to Wiki Commons by the Westland District Library, to be proofread on Wikisource. Thus this is the only online source for the text that I know of.]

Target completion date: 2023-02-26

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

That link does not work - if it is still waiting proof reading you will need to wait and even then we will need to know if it is PD in the USA.

The parser stripped off the final full-stop. I've adjusted by marking it as a url link. I was the validator for the work two years ago. Of the four authors, the longest living died 1944 and it was published 1921, so it's PD in both US and NZ, along with any country where 78 years is okay. [As an administrator at enWS, I'm very aware of the PD rules and will never propose something here that isn't PD for US.]
