From what I can tell of the text in the link, it seems that pages 699 and 700 are missing. There is no intro heading for Clement Vallandigham unless I am looking in the wrong spot.

Good catch! Try using this scan to fill in those two pages. The quality is not as good but it seems to be readable.

I might like to sign up for section 79 but before you assign it to me I hope you can explain a few things. I'm assuming I shouldn't read the footnotes -- is that correct? (although maybe something like footnote 7 would be an exception because it adds good information to the case). I'm assuming I should read the list of witnesses. If there's other information I should be aware of please let me know.

Sure, let me know if you want it!

The footnotes are optional - you can include or exclude any that you choose. You'd read everything in the body of the text (including the lists).
