Section 6 -
CHAPTER XXVIII, A BEGGAR, AND MONEY SAVED
- is PLOK!

Great job on the edits, Leanne. I hope you did not spend too much time looking for the original recording on your machine. If you ever need to download a recording from the location (URL) at which you had stored it using the Uploader, let me know and I can help you with that. Cheers, Brian

Dear Brian,
THank you got pasting in end of section 8 on this one, but I'm sorry, I don't like it. I did it myself and hope it's ok that I just reuploaded it...

Dear Leanne,

You don't need to apologize for not liking the outro paste that I did. Your redo of section 8 outro sounds much better to my ear! And, after all, it is your recording and you are the one who should be satisfied with it.

Thank you,
Brian

Well, here's my attempt at make you all cry. It's not as good as Val's just yet, but she's obviously in a whole 'nother league than the rest of us! Val, tell us your secrets, will you?

Anyway, get out the tissues...
Beautiful reading, Leanne! I do so enjoy listening to you. I also think you read with outstanding feeling through your pace and intonation. I believe you'd be great at dramatic readings - but, that said, I really, really hope you stick with this project before wandering off to plays and dramatic readings! I decided to do a little PL starting with section 5 and that way Lomomd can let me know how I might improve on my proof-listening ...

PL Notes for Section 5 / Chapter 27
  • (00:01) - Should say 'Section 5' [I hear 'Section 27']
  • (01:22) - 'in spite of her affectation of entire innocence' [I hear 'in spite of her affection of entire innocence']
  • (01:57) - 'and the wish to console him for his still greater losses, that they all deplored' [Missing: 'for his still greater losses']
  • (04:40) - 'in the midst of all these troubles, Faller's creditors' [Missing: 'in the midst of all these troubles']
  • (11:44) - 'still less can I do so now, when I am so miserable at heart' [Missing: 'when I am so miserable at heart']
  • (14:25) - 'it was, indeed, horrible! He could ... wedding day to the present time'[Missing: 'He could not discover the cause, though he thought over all that had occurred from his wedding day to the present time']
  • (15:47) - Should say 'End of section 5' [I hear 'End of chapter 27']
  • (15:49) - There are about 8 seconds of silence at the end of the recording - it should be closer to 5 seconds
Thank you,
Brian

PS,

the filename should follow the template format clockmaker2_##_auerbach_128kb so this one should have been called clockmaker2_05_auerbach_128kb. My apologies, Leanne, because I wasn't on top of this and I see that you followed a consistent practice for subsequent sections. Similarly, for your intros. I'm sorry. Don't worry about filenames and intros for those other sections (6 through 9) until PL Notes are completed on them so that we can catch any other fixes that might be needed. OK?
Hi Brian,
I missed this one yesterday, apologies. Here is the redo of section 5, 16:00

Hi Leanne,

I'm not sure if "redo" means an entirely new recording or, rather, an edit of the previous one. At sixteen minutes, I guess I'll mark it Ready for PL, rather than Ready for Spot PL, and "redo" the PL. :)

Thanks,
Brian

A very fine recording, Leanne. There are two minor issues that need to be addressed. The duration of silence before the intro is about four tenths of a second and it really needs to be at least 0.5 but not more than 1 second. Also, the silence at the end, after the outro, is just a little more than three seconds, whereas it needs to be about five seconds. These might seem like minor concerns, but the fact is that we are obliged to adhere to LibriVox standards.

If you wish, I can adjust silence at start and end of your section 10 recording. But, of course, if you prefer you can make those changes yourself. Please let me know how you'd rather these be handled.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian,
Sorry about that, I totally didn't think to double check those.
Did you get in that good cry? I think we could all probably use one these days!
I don't mind fixing the file, you have enough to do.

Yes, good cry behind me, I'm ready to bravely face tomorrow and whatever it may bring. :) I'm also glad that last weekend's spring cleaning indoors and this weekend's yard work are out of the way. Those are things I can control - at least I want to believe I can! Looking forward to those hazy, lazy crazy days of summer and wishing summer would soon be here! 8-) How are you?
