Thanks Alan! Looks like it's time to start editing again. I noticed one minor hiccup this time, but I'm actually not sure if this is a misprint or... what.
2:18 - “Deacon Stew, aside” should be “Deacon Stew aside, Mars!]”
Obviously, those stage directions make no sense. What does, "Aside, Mars!" even mean? It's made even more confusing by the lack of italics in Mars, which makes me believe it's a misprint and part of Deacon Stew's dialogue. What do you think, Alan? I'm fine with either, although both options are somewhat confusing and nonsensical.
Hi Chuck
The only sense I could make of that line is that the Deacon says "Mars!" as an aside and then speaks out loud to Miss A. for the rest of the line. But why he would says Mars is anybodies guess :?

Thanks! You're PL OK now! I promise, if I launch another play and you wind up taking a role, I'll push you in the direction of something much, much easier.
Please keep me in mind for anything. I have no problem taking on a challenge. I just did not realize how challenging this accent would be!

Thank you!

Greg
Well, don't tell anyone, but I'm already color-coding text for a dramatic reading. So... you know...
Mums the word! Just you, me and the readers of the forum will know! 😀

Ladies and gentlemen... the trial of Victor Juno:

https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/socialwarof1900play_05_landis_128kb.mp3 [26:17]

What a ridiculous ending to a ridiculous play. Always a good sign when the author seems to lose interest at the end-point and just starts tossing in long, expository passages to get us to the conclusion.

Hi Chuck
Congratulations on getting this finished. It was a monster job but you did it
The ending is so utterly ridiculous that it is no wonder the author gave the option of leaving out the final scene

Thanks! It was... quite something. I would love to see that final sequence actually staged in a theatrical production. How on earth do you stage a scene where literal thousands are battling it out on stage? And then you immediately transition into the Garden of Eden? The budget for this thing would be insane!

I also loved listening to your narration, especially during scenes where your voice registered surprise or bemusement at what you were having to read.

And believe it or not, Simon Landis has OTHER PLAYS out there, ready for us to record. I'm... kinda flirting with doing this one, eventually.

The Devil's Kingdom is in Two Editions:
The Drawing Room Edition is intended for the "Road," and requires only four Performers, Two Ladies and Two Gentlemen for the full company, to portray eighteen characters. The Gorgeous Stage Edition requires an immense company and is more gorgeous and far grander than the Black Crook, or any other spectacular drama of modern date. Each act is complete in itself.
Huh. I don't think I've ever seen any play with that last italic bit before... :hmm:

Lest budgetary constraints prevent you from launching the "Gorgeous Stage Edition", I will undertake the purchase of a large enough (virtual) stage for the entire immense company. Have your people write to my people. 8-)
