Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
Leave 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning.
The Arrow and the Song by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, read for librivox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, and/or your location.]
Then read the poem:
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.
At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.
Leave 5 seconds of silence at the end.

Lovely suggestions for both poems this round. Not that it matters but it looks like the link for the poem is to 'Canopus'

Thank you Scotty, I fixed the link in the opening post. :wink:
You may wish to correct (at 0:30} "That it can follow the flight of a song?" the text reads "That it can follow the flight of song?"
Thanks.

A beautiful sentiment. My friends, however, have terrible taste in music. Which is probably what they'd say about me. :wink:

I'll be out for a bit on this last weekend of April, but still checking in as I get the chance. I will try to follow up on Monday, with anything I can't do on the go.

This is a poem that was often memorized by American school children in a previous generation.

Oft quoted first line, but it is the last line that makes it special:
