Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read her diary. For the catalogue I'd like to use Elvia Quintana.

The sections are now assigned to you.

Now, there is no need to rush or hurry to get your first section completed. Take your time to relax into recording and enjoy the process.

Just a few notes:
12:42 I hear "Sutra resuscitation"; text has recitation
16:36 I hear "there was always Rhine wine"; text has rice wine
25:01 I hear "rather it is the delusion of one"; text has disillusion
33:57 I hear "we cannot see the boughs of our horsemen"; text has bows i.e. the weapon bow and arrows, rather than the front of a ship

Optional (as I'm not sure of the correct Japanese word):
20:05 and three other points in the paragraph. I hear "tanaka" (3 syllables) when the text has "tanka" (2 syllables).

Thanks

Just a small thing: I found the gap between the introduction and the start of the text a bit long. Could you reduce it by about 3 seconds?

I agree that there is a lot that could be said. For someone who was such an introvert it seems strange that it's her diary that got preserved. I think she would have been dreadfully embarrassed by its publication. At the same time, it's a very insightful look at behaviours that are still with us today.

Thank you for giving the whole a gentle cast. Her introverted retiring nature comes through in the reading.

I'll move you to Readers Found. :(

I’ve shortened that gap and uploaded the file again.
https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/diariesofcourtladies_06_lowell_128kb.mp3
Updated duration: 44:39

Yes, this diary is intense in a way, though hard to read as it is. Screens at times are rolled up and through that stage one sees and experiences and imagines, and constructs anew. But the sense of compression and smothering of the emotional and intellectual core is painful.
I find fascinating, and kind of telling, that images of the time depicting interiors use a cinematic, ceilingless view from a high angle; inside is a “being watched” life.

Thank you so much for your comments on the reading.

No worries about taking a while to do these—they're quite different from other works. And I've been out of action for a while also.

Section 7 is PL okay.

I'll get to section 8 in a couple of day's time.

A few notes:
08:08 I hear "her message has already come"; text has "messenger"

14:20 "boughs" in this context is a synonym for "tree branches" and is pronounced in the same way as "bow" in "take a bow" (rhymes with wow).

26:51 "Dreamed in a night of dreams". "Dreamed" here is a past tense verb (rather than a past participle) and so is said the same way as "dreamt".

Otherwise, all good.

Hello, I just finished editing part 1 and would like to know what are some things I can improve looking towards part 2 and 3 of The Sarashina Diary. I also decided to go with my other last name while introducing myself, so I hope it's okay.
