I asked my librarian about the noise, and she said, "no one would come here
if they weren't allowed to talk out loud." So I read out loud.

Je lis à haute voix car refléchir fait trop de bruit!
Amy, please note that I've tweaked the description, taking out the word "sympathetic", and made a couple of other small changes.
Thanks,

I do want to start reading. Here are some issues that I see. I would like your feedback, please.
1. I have not read before and have not had coaching on how to do it. I am willing to take coaching and give it a try.
2. I have very little experience with editing.
3. There are English and French words and symbols that I have never seen before and don’t know where to go to find out how to pronounce them.
4. Each section seems to be about 6 pages long and are jam-packed with words. It feels like this could take a newbie, like me, most of a day to work through.
Thoughts?

Hi, Thomas. Great that you want to start reading. I listened to your one-minute test, and you have a good voice, pace, and attention to what you're saying.
My suggestion is you start with a few short pieces. If you read poetry, there are weekly and fortnightly poems that you can contribute to: everyone reads the same poem so there are lots of different interpretations of it. You can also choose a short work you like (PD of course!) and post it to an open short works collection (see board index on the forum). Example, there's one short section left in this one viewtopic.php?t=96144
Some people learn well from the various written and video instructions, and there are sometimes (monthly?) zoom meetings where questions can be asked. I learn best with tutoring, and have benefitted from the patience of people here, and am willing to do the same for you if you need help. I also learn best by bumbling ahead and making mistakes. That sometimes irritates BC's and MC's, but they always rise to the occasion and I don't make the mistake again!
Let me know what you decide. There's support on all sides for the short works, but if you want to PM me on any specifics, you know where to find me!

Been quiet in here. I'm chiming in to bring it to the top of the readers wanted list.
