Greetings -

A few notes on Chapter 18:

All in all, your DPL has no concerns about the actual reading. Good pace, easy to understand, would have been PL OK except for a few "spacing" glitches:

TIME: 00:22 COMMENT: There was a pause here that could be shortened a bit.

TIME: 04:59 COMMENT: After "just as he had left it." there is a long pause that needs to be shortened to a couple of seconds; then the "End of Chapter 18" statement; and then a five second silent period.

Thanks for the reading; let's hear more from you.

Thanks to some good reading by Inkell, we have three more chapters (22, 39, and 44) added to the roster of PL OK offerings.

It is easy to forget that not all of Andersen's tales are bright and cheery. The Ice Maiden is an example of a somber, almost dreary, one.

nicolerachelle, welcome to LibriVox and thanks for your first (of many, we hope) contribution.

Section 28 was definitely PL OK.

The only suggestion that I could make is to move a bit closer to your microphone. The volume was a bit soft, especially at the beginning of the recording. Boosting your audio while recording would also help.

Welcome to LibriVox, ReneeRVH. You might find it to be a strangely addictive and completely enjoyable way to spend your time.

Your first offering was very good. Just add a second or so to the silent period at the end and it will be PL OK.

I noticed that your your audio came in at 86.2 dB, just slightly over our lower limit. Set up your recording software to have it come in about 3 dB higher and you will be right where it's best to have it.

A selection of good voices highlights valroth's PL OK reading of Chapter 48. Nicely done.

If I may say so, I found the first part of the story rather de-witching.

Thank you so much for the feedback! So sorry about the volume.. unfortunately I was using a backup mic as my normal one stopped working. It is a stage mic that apparently needs an amp LOL! I had to do a lot of processing and struggled a bit to get it within range. But now I have a new voiceover mic so hopefully the rest of my submissions are better quality. :D And yes it really is addicting LOL! Very much fun!

Thanks Lomond! I had fun despite it being a very “de-witching” fairy tale!

Not sure what lesson (if any) Hans had in mind here. Let’s see—first you murder the person who gives you money, live years of debauchery and start believing you’re worthy of more, kidnap a young girl, then with the full support of the mindless minions, take over the kingdom! Do you suppose Hans was clairvoyant and had a lens into the future?

Hi!

I'd like to claim the following sections:

34: Little Ida's Flowers
35: The Buckwheat
43: The King March's Daughter

I cross-checked with the Magic Window, but let me know if there are any issues with me reading those three.
Thanks,
Kay

And how smart can a soldier be if he lets an ugly witch convince him to climb down into the hollow trunk of a tree with only a promise she will pull him back up? :? :?
