I definitely, absolutely, totally intend to be there. Whether this translates into reality only time will tell, but my intentions are good.

What's "The Squelch Problem"?
Is that going to be about how to squish spikes?

In old time radio we had a 'squelch' control that was supposed to stop extremely loud noises from reaching the speakers.

In non-tech terms, I call it SCREECH, that ear-piercing sound I sometimes get when I say ch, sh, and occasionally s in the middle of a word as in "whistle. Anyway, I can see it in the wave form, and will demo how I get rid of it.
BTW, I'm adding a new topic to the subject line: BRAGS. Each participant will get a few minutes to brag on/call attention to something LV they are currently working on.

Squelch still used in ham radio, shortwave receivers, etc. There is always a little background noise, sometimes a lot, and the squelch essentially sets a volume threshold above which a signal must rise to be heard. So, it squelches the static.philchenevert wrote: ↑February 5th, 2023, 8:54 am In old time radio we had a 'squelch' control that was supposed to stop extremely loud noises from reaching the speakers.

Staff Picks: Pertaining to the January Zoom Chat where we discussed "Staff Picks" and how that works, here's a link to the just posted request for suggestions, which you might want to contribute to now. I just did.
