Of course! I've changed it to Doreen Marcotte. I'd gratefully listen to a solo book read by you! You have a lovely voice!

Somehow I never thought of Austria-Hungary in the context of geographical exploration or about the instability of a base built on ice.

I enjoy searching for books, although I rarely record them  I mainly search in gutenberg.org and archive.org. I search using words. For example, let's say I am interested in the moon, so I search for the word "moon"; gutenberg gives me all the books that contain the word moon, in the title, subtitle or contents (if the contents are in the metadata), but it also gives me a list of authors that might have "moon" in their names, and a list of subjects with "moon". This is like blind date, so you may end up with a book that you don't like after you start reading it, but also, you may end up with a book you'll love and wouldn't have found otherwise!!

I would suggest picking something up with a short to medium length as a first project, with a gutenberg.org HTML size around 200kB (maybe within the range of 100-300)

Exciting! :D

Around the time these magazines were published the "race to the poles" received the sort of public attention that the race to be first to the moon had in the 1960s.
An American Robert Peary was first to the North Pole while a Norwegian Roald Amundsen was first to the South Pole, just beating Britain's Captain Scott :(

Rapunzelina, I found one ! Tom Sawyer, Detective by Mark Twain. Used to read those stories as a child. What’s my next step?

Read through this post: viewtopic.php?t=13513

It has instructions on how to fill in the template generator, then you post the result in the launch pad part of the forum and an MC will volunteer to set the project up for you with a magic window and everything!

I don't know if it makes a difference for you that there is a Librivox recording of this book in the catalogue. It's possible to have multiple versions of a book. And I'm sure you will enjoy it, so it's a good choice for a solo
