Hi Amy,

I recently learned/remembered about all the various post-processing plugins of Audacity (De-clicker, De-esser, DC normalize, limiter).
In listening to my older recordings ("older" = 3 weeks ago) there are a lot of harsh SSs and mouth noises that I neglected to edit out. So I did some post-processing on my first couple recordings so it would be easier on the ears.

The new versions are uploaded:

15:45

https://librivox.org/uploads/alg1001/ssf090_knowledgemachine_hamilton_qtn_128kb.mp3
31:08

I didn't edit/change anything else, so hopefully it should be a quick spot-check.

Sorry!/Thanks!

Hi quartertone,
They sounded fine to me! I think you are being overly self-critical. The new ones will have overridden your first so you should be all set.
Have a good weekend!

Hello. I have nearly completed editing my recording of "From Beyond the Stars." I have a question regarding the author byline. Although there is a tendency to list this story under the author's common pseudonym "Murray Leinster," the original publication in "Thrilling Wonder Stories" seems to credit it under his given name, "Will F. Jenkins." Which name should I include for LibriVox's purposes?

Hi Vincent,
The story will be credited to him in the catalog either way so you can use Murray or Will.

Can anyone PL, or do we have to be approved in some way like the 1 minute reading test?

Anyway, I took a listen, and it sounds good, though I found a few issues.

The only real one is that you didn't say your "read by ___" either at the beginning or end.

The others were word mistakes. None really changed the meaning, so they could probably stay, but I don't know how word-perfect you like to keep things:

Timestamp - [what you read] (what was in the text)
3:37 - blue jeans (blue denims)
7:13 - hear (heard)
8:37 - in the line (in line)
11:23 - look for us (look for this)

Otherwise ok!

Hi,
Saying your name is optional. I opt not to.
The first timestamp lines up, but none of the others do. I don't see a need to update any of those.
Thanks,
Amy

Here's another one!

A good story, but the author's sexism is pretty blatant. (I mean, there are only two characters but he calls the female character "the girl". She has a name, dude.) Eh, well; "it was a different era" etc.
