czandra wrote: January 6th, 2023, 10:27 am Thank you, Cormax. As often happens if you rerecord, the new recording has new and different PL notes, sad to say. I did the same thing once, when I was exactly at your experience level. It's normal. Don't give up! This gives you an opportunity to attempt correcting as indicated above!

at 5:31 there's a sentence missing. "Stop this prattle"

7:20 I hear statement instead of statesman
7:30 I didn't correct this before, but since you're there, "rave" is pronounced as "pave, save". Rav is a Toyota.

In my directions about cutting and pasting, I omitted to say that, to cut, you do it as for text: highlight the wave pattern you wish to paste elsewhere, use the cut tool in audacity or short-cut: Control x, then paste using control v. If it doesn't work, you can use the undo tab on audacity, or start again with the mp3 to audacity. It takes time to learn how, but once you've got it, you can record at ease, knowing you can always cut out pauses, stumbles, or paste in corrections.

Have fun!
Czandra
same recording with the corrections added, time now is a few second past original (5:31 is now around 5:34, etc)
Section 6: https://librivox.org/uploads/kazbek/ukrainiansandeurowar_06_various_128kb.mp3 8:00

well done, Cormax! Thank you. PL just fine.
One more section to go, and some corrections by two other readers!

I asked my librarian about the noise, and she said, "no one would come here
if they weren't allowed to talk out loud." So I read out loud.

czandra wrote: November 11th, 2022, 7:38 am Thanks for 5, Grey (is it?). again small modifications:
2:10 I hear "all above" instead of "above all
6:25 "shaky" instead of "snaky"
3:34 a tiny stumble after "doubtless" might as well be excised while you're at it.

This section is a really appalling catalogue of censorship I did not know about.

PL okay. Congrats on finding the second correction, which had the wrong time indication!

ditto thanks. There are several small edits. In this recording you have quite consistently left the "s" sound off plural nouns, as in French. Mostly it doesn't keep the meaning from coming through, but there are a few spots I've noted it because it does affect the reading.

at 1:54 you added the word "first" which is not in the text
2:11 text is "because of", I hear "because"
2:20 illiterates should be plural (pronounce the "s")
2:35 Charlemagne (here you've added the "s" where there should be none)
3:49 "as its deliverers"; I hear "and its deliverers"
3:57 there's a typo. It should be "and", but text says "nad"
5:15 you've omitted the words, the Metropolitan Archbishop
5:30 popes should be clearly plural
5:34 Churches should be clearly plural, as there needs to be a slight pause before Orthodox

Nit-picky, but otherwise, it's fine.
Bien à vous,
Czandra

Section 9 with the corrections (only on the times listed above, although the time is slightly off on those sections)

Thank you Cormax! Your job is done. Now we just need a minor correction on one section and we're all done!

Section 3 has just one correction (in two places). At 3:05 and 4:30, "renaissance" should have an audible "s" sound at the end of the word. I hear "renaissang".

Czandra
I can easily do this edit, if you think it necessary. It's a shame to hold up this publication for such a tiny problem.

NOTE: edit done

Thanks, Czandra. I haven't seen a spot PL note for section 3 in the thread. If there's an edit, we do a spot-check, even if it's minor. I just spot-checked the edits and I think I would have understood the word. The final decision is with our BC. Nastya, please give us your verdict.

Thanks, Michael. I corrected "renaissance" myself, as I had suggested I could do, by borrowing an earlier "s" sound from the same reader, and putting it on the end of the two incidences of the word. I'm glad you understand it! It means s. 3 is PL okay. All is PL okay, from a fussy PL'er.

Hello! Thank you for all the help, Czandra and Misha. We can proceed with cataloging.

ED: Oh, I remembered something... shouldn't I have put authors in section titles?🤔 I totally forgot. I'll do that this weekend and then cataloging.

Sounds good. That was the option you chose (Oct 19).
