It has been a month, so I think that this post has gotten buried. I'm still willing to portray Callendar's Servant if you would like me to.
It has been another month, so I'm pinging once again. If you feel that I have already recorded enough parts for this project, just say the word.
oh, man -- I guess I need to scroll back and check for scraps I've missed... although how I could miss it twice I'm not sure... Sure! The part is yours! You're welcome to pick up some more small parts as well - just make sure they don't overlap.
(Anybody else I've missed, overlooked, or otherwise neglected? :D )

Sorry, I've been collecting for you, but I haven't finished collecting -- I'll post the collection I've put together so far. I was also wondering if you wanted to take on the role of Mr. Das, the judge. I know you voiced Mrs. Das in an earlier chapter, but she had only a couple of words. The Indian ladies in this book don't get to say much -- I'm guessing it's because the British man who wrote this story didn't have much contact with Indian ladies... lol!

Just let me know if there are any lines you don't want to do. Please submit each chapter as a separate audio file.

Thanks,
TJ

VOICE COLLECTION 3 (INDIAN and others :D ):

Ch. 14, p. 5
VOICES OF INDIA: “Come”

Ch. 15, p. 1
SMALL STONES: “I am almost alive.”

Chapter 20, page 2:
PROFESSOR GODBOLE, CHANTING VOICES (INDIAN):
“Tukaram, Tukaram,
Thou art my father and mother and everybody.
Tukaram, Tukaram,
Thou art my father and mother and everybody.
Tukaram, Tukaram. . . .”

Chapter 20, page 2:
VOICE: “God si Love.”

Chapter 20, page 3:
CHANTING VOICES (INDIAN): “Tukaram, Tukaram . . .,”

Chapter 20, page 4:
[WOMEN: SHRIEK]

Chapter 20, page 5:
RAJAH: “I name this child Shri Krishna,”

Chapter 20, page 5:
[ALL: LAUGH]
VOICE: “God si love!”

Chapter 24, page 4:
[STUDENT 1 & RAFI: JEER]

RAFI: English were cowards!

MOHAMMEDAN LADY: to take no food until the prisoner was acquitted;

Chapter 24, page 22:
[MR. AMRITRAO, NAWAB BAHADUR, HAMIDULLAH, MAHMOUD ALI,
HAMIDULLAH BEGUM, STUDENT 1, RAFI (INDIAN STUDENT),
MOHAMMEDAN LADY, INDIAN VOICES: GASPS & SOUNDS OF
HAPPINESS, JOY, RELIEF, CELEBRATION
]

Chapter 25, page 2
STUDENT 1: “Sir, I intend these for you, sir,”
Chapter 25, page 3
STUDENT 1: “Hurry up, sir; we pull you in a procession.”
Chapter 25, page 3
VOICE 1: The English always stick together!
Chapter 25, page 3
RAFI: “Sir, we fetch the others; sir, it is a somewhat heavy load for our
arms,”

Chapter 35, page 1:
SAINT’S MOTHER: “Free prisoners.”

JEMILA, AHMED, KARIM: yes father,

Chapter 35, page 4:
AHMED: “They will not hurt us, whose lives are chaste,”
[AHMED, KARIM: SHRIEK WITH JOY]

Chapter 35, page 4:
AHMED: “Put powdered glass in their pan?”

[AHMED, KARIM: SHRIEK WITH DERISION, LAUGH AND MAKE FUN OF THE ENGLISHMEN]
I think I've covered all the character assignments. For the voice collection consisting of small stones, chants, shriek (not sure here, but will try :D ), can I submit them in a single file?

Let me know if there is anything/anyone else you'd like me to voice.

Thanks

benderca wrote: January 22nd, 2023, 3:05 pm I love your portrayal of Mamoud Ali -- What an interesting character!

I have one small note for Mamoud Ali Chapter 2:

0:32 p. 2
MISSING LINE: I do not blame him.

MAHMOUD ALI: “It is impossible here. Aziz! The red-nosed boy has again insulted me in Court. I do not blame him. He was told that he ought to insult me. Until lately he was quite a nice boy, but the others have got hold of him.”

Mahmoud Ali Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 24, Chapter 25, and Chapter 29 are PL OK!

Thank you so much, Yoganandh!
And here is the correct ch 02 of Mahmud Ali. Its 2:26 long
Thank you

I'm hearing "Chad-a-pore" -- which is missing the "n" and "r" sounds.
In sentence: It will be at Chandrapore—we thought ...

1:19 page 6
Missing the word "own"
In sentence: No doubt my own nerves are out of order,

1:23 page 6
I hear "come" instead of "came" and I'm hearing "to the office" instead of "from the office."
In sentence: ... and I expected more from mother when I came in from the office than ...

1:29 page 6
I'm hearing "spectacle" instead of "special." And I hear "didn't" instead of "don't."
In sentence: She is sure to make a special effort for you; still, I
don’t want your ...

2:11 page 8
Missing word "and." And I'm hearing "of it" instead of "out of this"
In sentence: ... about it, and it was recognized that the defence would try to make capital out of this during the trial.

3:10 page 9
Missing word "but"
Missing word "at"
I hear "in with him" instead of "on with him"
In sentence: No one blames you, mother, but the fact remains that you dropped off at the first cave, and encouraged Adela to go on with him alone, ...

3:39 page 9
Missing word "up"
In sentence: ... but you’ve no right to take up this high and mighty attitude ...

3:54 page 9
I hear "I really did" instead of "I did really"
In sentence: ... you’ld want to take your part, I did really.

4:11 page 10
Extra word "be" before "want"
In sentence: You appear to want to be left out of everything, and that’s enough.

4:22 page 10
I hear "state in a" instead of "state it in"
In sentence: Can you state it in simple language? If so, do.

4:28 page 10
Extra word "then" after "well"
In sentence: Very well, get them.

5:13 page 12
Missing word "and"
In sentence: I don’t quite know what you’re saying, and I don’t think you do.

5:35 page 12
I hear "was" instead of "had" and I don't hear the "t" sound in "stolen." Then for "the" I hear instead "that." And for "and" I hear "had."
In sentence: Nureddin had stolen the Nawab Bahadur’s car and driven Aziz into a ditch in the dark.

5:47 page 12
For "and Nureddin" the word "and" is barely audible and almost slurred together with "Nureddin." And I hear "nur-her-in" which is missing the "d" sound. After that, the word "had" sounds distant.
In sentence: Both of them had fallen out, and Nureddin had cut his face open.

5:52 page 12
I hear "their willing to be" but the text is "wailing had been." And "the" is missing before "faithful." Also for the word "faithful," it sounds like "fateful" so is missing the "th" sound.
In sentence: Their wailing had been drowned by the cries of the faithful, ...

6:07 page 12
"Aziz" sounds like it has an extra "iz" syllable so sounds like "Az-iz-iz" instead of "Az-iz." And I'm hearing "reported" instead of "restored."
In sentence: Nureddin was taken to the Minto Hospital, Aziz restored to prison, ...

6:36 pag 13
I hear "make things up" instead of what the text says which is "make up a thing."
In sentence: Pure illusion. You can’t be quite well, can you, to make up a thing like that.

6:45 page 13
The second "as" is missing. And "be" sounds like "have been." So what I hear is: "as far it could have been listened to." And then "incoherent" sounds like "in-co-HORT-ent" instead of "in-co-HEAR-ent."
In sentence: I was listening to all she said, as far as it could be listened to; she gets very incoherent.

7:16 page 13
I hear "you've got" instead of "I've got."
In sentence: So you won’t go saying he’s innocent again, will you? for every servant I’ve got is a spy.

7:29 page 13
I'm hearing an extra word "is" between "this" and "for."
I also hear an extra word "not" between "do" and "accept" which changes the meaning of the sentence.
In sentence: It’ll be all right after the verdict, for I will say this for them, they do accept the accomplished fact; ...

7:47 page 13
Extra word "that" between "say" and "it."
Also missing word "a" between "was" and "put-up."
In sentence: It would enable them to say it was a put-up job on the part of us officials.

8:29 page 15
I hear "burden of" instead of "bounden"
See https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/bounden-duty?q=bounden for pronunciation.
I hear "to" instead of "into."
In sentence: If so, it is your bounden duty to go into the witness-box for him instead of for us.

8:54 page 16
I hear "just" in a different place in the sentence; I hear it after "I" instead of after the word "you."
I hear "situation" instead of "station."
In sentence: What was I warning you just now? You know you’re right, and the whole station knows it.

9:09 page 16
I hear "come out before the" instead of "to come before a."
In sentence: But the case has to come before a magistrate now: ...
