Thanks, KevinS; the supposed Sussex dialect's quite hard work, and I'm never sure how well I'm doing. The " a' " as a personal pronoun is hard, as ... for me, at least ... it's impossible to tell if the speaker means himself or someone else.

There's a lovely evocation of the pleasures of the wind on the Downs in the April essay. I have a couple of friends that live in Sussex; I'm thinking of getting a copy of this book for them.
