Hi all--I checked on the Section 76 file per the notes made above by one of the previous PL'ers on this project. The section was read very well, no mistakes in the text. The person who recorded the section (cafe1948) has not been on the forum for a year now, so I made the suggested corrections involving silences at beginning and end, cut out the extra statements of the author's name. I uploaded the corrected file and marked it as PL OK in the MW. If any questions or objections, please let me know.vmead wrote: ↑December 19th, 2021, 8:54 pmThis sounds really good and really clear, Jim!cafe1948 wrote: ↑December 9th, 2021, 9:07 am M, I've uploaded my first bit: https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/elementaryforms_76_durkheim_128kbps.mp3
You may see another mp3 from me as a file sent a few minutes earlier. It's the same recording, only it's mislabeled, so please ignore it. I also see in the Forum's instructions that we're to post our uploads to the BC. Who is that for this project, and how do I send a post to him/her? Finally, since Audacity and I are wrestling with one another to see who controls whom, I'd appreciate any tips for making my recording "listenable." Thanks.
Jim
There are a few things that need to be tweaked though.
In the beginning, you need between .05-1 second of silence, no more.
Then the intro should be according to the template (I believe you stated the author's name after the first time you read the title as well as saying the section title as the section number. The section title is listed on the first page of the thread where your assigned sections are shown in the MW):
"Section 76 of The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life. This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information or to volunteer, please visit librivox.org." [Optional: "Read by your name."] "The Elementary Forms of the Religious Life, by Émile Durkheim, translated by Joseph Ward Swain. Conclusion, "To what extent the results obtained may be generalized"."
Lastly, you want 5 seconds following the very end of the recording. Not before you say "End of section 76", that can be like 1 to 2 seconds.
