The Romance of Early Exploration, by Archibald Williams (1871 - 1934)
The Author has been encouraged by the reception given to The Romance of Modern Exploration to write a companion volume on the adventures of early travelers and explorers. For conveniences' sake the period covered ends at A.D. 1600, a date sufficiently advanced to permit mention of the first polar expeditions in which English navigators played so important a part. I'm afraid this book is not viewable for me on hathitrust.

If there's no other edition, I'll have to sit this one out...

There is one copy at Archive, scanned by the Library of India. It is not the best scan, and the book is missing after chapter 10, well, half way through the chapter. If what you are looking to read is before chapter 10, then you are in luck. https://archive.org/details/in.ernet.dli.2015.459563/page/n191/mode/2up I'm assuming that Google books is not available to you either? The Hathi copy is from there. I will look again.

Google is hit-and-miss, sometimes it works, other times not at all.
You may need another version for all non-USians who'd like to read for this project in any case.

However, for me the truncated version is just fine.
Looking at the introductions, I think I'll go for section 6 on The Friar Odoric. There's nothing about Japan that I can see.

Great! I was hoping that I had something for you. Chapter 6 is yours, thank you!

I think I will add the link for Google, then see if that will work for others. Hopefully...unless there is someone who knows how to link Google books to Archive.

Ann,

I am sorry to not quite (or at all) follow the rules, but I put on my list to do Chapter 3, then today I had some time, looked at my list and did Chapter 3, then realized it hadn't been awarded to me yet. Please don't whip me with a wet noodle, but here is Chapter 3:

No problem! I was busy doing non-LV stuff all afternoon, and I did not turn on a computer until now! It was very nice to not look at a screen all day! Anyway, chapter 3 is yours, and thank you for recording so quickly!
