The Radio Boys With the Forest Rangers, by Allen Chapman

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/radio-boys-with-the-forest-rangers-allen-chapman/
Radio is an ideal boy’s hobby, but it's not limited to youth. It offers a wonderful scope for the unquenchable enthusiasm that accompanies the application of youthful endeavor, and it's a fact that the majority of the wonderful inventions and improvements that have been made in radio have been produced by young men.

The Radio Boys are school chums enraptured by the thrill and potential of wireless voice transmission in the early days of the 20th Century.

These are adventures of American youth as captured in print by Mark Twain, Rudyard Kipling, Robert Louis Stevenson, Jules Verne and Franklin W. Dixon. (Summary by Tom Hirsch)

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the number of languishing projects on our server, we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't recorded anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MW coming up.

edit: I might suggest a shorter filename, radioboysforestrangers_##_chapman_128kb.mp3, but it's your decision. Enjoy.

Um might not be my place to say but are you sure you have the right author? If he was born in 1974 I'm not sure how he was able to write a PD book published in 1923...

Hi, Craig,

Thanks for jumping on board :D

I, too, was a little uncomfortable with that file name. But I forgot to modify it. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'll use your suggestion "radioboysforestrangers."

And with Don as DPL we're off 'n running!

A very observant catch

I wondered about that too. I just completed (in July) the prequel to this book by the same author. I researched it then and discovered that Allen Chapman is a pseudonym: "Allen Chapman" is the pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate as author of several series of children's books." Allen Chapman was actually born in 1862!

However -- Your "good catch" called my attention to an incorrect Wikipedia reference to the author. I'll ask Don to make the edit. Correct URL for Mr. Chapman should be: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/1425998.Allen_Chapman

I've learned a lesson to not be in such a hurry or distracted when I set up the template for a new book project

I've already corrected the url for the author. Chapman was in our database. The LV server is having trouble this morning and it took me multiple tries to post the edit. Consequently, I forgot to mention the url change.

I clicked on this thread by mistake when seeing what new projects there were and found it jarring, I worried it wasn't my place to say anything so I kept hoping someone would notice it. I'm sure it's an easy mistake to make, least it's sorted now and I wish you the best of luck with your project

Inkell --

No worries, Mate :D All help is good help. I was rather in a rush to get to an appointment when I set this project up and I'm nonplused at the errors that crept in as a result.

I genuinely appreciate the "good catch."

Hi Tom,

Section 00 is PL OK! :)

There was one nit in the filename though. The author portion in the filename and link show _champan_ rather than _chapman_.

Thanks, Don - - -

WOW! I sure hope the way this project is starting out is NOT an indication of things to come!!!!!

I spotted that error when I was proofing the project launch template, and I THOUGHT I had caught them all. My bad!

I've reviewed everything again and I believe I've corrected them all this time. In truth -- that error spawned from Gutenberg!

I've corrected everything here at my end and also reuploaded the file using the CORRECT file name. I've also corrected the link in the MW.

Crossing my fingers that is the LAST of the "Oopsies!" to be discovered.

Thanks, again, for keeping me honest :D
