The Lady's Museum (1760-61) by Charlotte Lennox (1730 - 1804)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-ladys-museum-volume-1-by-charlotte-lennox/

Published in 11 issues between 1760 and 1761 and believed largely to be written and edited by Charlotte Lennox (it was marketed as “by the Author of The Female Quixote“), the Lady’s Museum educated and informed its readership through a variety of media including science, satire, letters to and from the editor, poetry, translation, history, philosophy, geography, travel writing, educational treatises, and the first serialized novel, _The History of Harriot and Sophia_, which Lennox would later publish as the novel _Sophia_. (Summary by Kelly Plante)
Source text (please read only from this text!): https://ladysmuseum.com/tag/vol-1/

Deadline: Please submit your recording within 2 months of placing your claim. If you cannot complete the recording within this time, please post in the thread to relinquish your claim or to ask the BC for an extension. If your recording is not completed by the deadline, your claim may be reassigned at the BC's discretion.

Claiming sections: Look in the Magic Window below for the list of available sections. Post a reply in this thread asking for the section you would like to record.

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. When you post your file, please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog.

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Setting this up for you now.

I see this is your first project as BC. This is going to be a tricky text, just because accessing it is difficult. You will probably need to use something along the lines of googledocs and provide links in the Notes column.

OK, it's set up.

As this is your first time as BC. I have added you to the list of BCs and can walk you through this

First of all, near the top of the first post, probably to the right but it may be fairly central, depending on your browser, you will see a stubby little pencil icon. That is so you can edit the first post.

You can change the file name at this point, but in this case, I wouldn't. It's which is nice and short.

I will give you instructions for the MW in a separate post, but if you have questions, please ask.

Here are the instructions for logging in to the MW. It is the same for a DPL as for a BC. Please note, this only gives you access to the MW for projects where you are DPL or BC.

Accessing the System – First Time Login
1. Use this Link to go the main login screen: http://librivox.org/workflow
2. Click on Login (for BCs & MCs)
3. Enter your forum username.
4. Click “Forgot Password”
5. You will receive an email with a link to reset your password. Click the link and enter a password and submit the form. (Note this should be more secure than your 'regular' password)
6. Go back to the main login screen and use the new password you entered above to log in to the system.
7. When you log in from the main screen above, you will be taken to the LibriVox Management Dashboard default screen where you should see a list of your active projects along with options for dropdown menus, searching and editing your profile. (more on this later)
For more explicit step by step directions with screen shots, please see Accessing the System - First Time Login
NOTE: BCs should use their personal workflow login to upload files. If you recently logged in with the general login to upload files to a project and the system still had you logged in, you may see this:
You don't have permissions for this area.
Return to Librivox Management Tool Homepage
Logout
To remedy this, click Logout and then login with your BC login and password.

Please note, this doesn't always work the first time.

If you are still having trouble after 3 or 4 attempts, PM knotyouraveragejo

The MW is probably straightforward...
No need for chapter numbers. Hit enter when you have finished typing.

When you enter readers, click on "add reader" and start typing the name. A drop-down menu will appear. You must select the reader from the list, otherwise it will not work. If you get new readers signing up, I will guide you through that process. It's easy, but no need to confuse you with too much information at first 8-) Enter the section number(s) either as 01-04 or 01, 02, 03, 04 etc.

In the notes column, you should add the word count for each section. As I said, I think you will need direct links to the text on googledocs and those links should go here. Also add anything else important e.g. "includes Latin" or "song". I like to add the expiration date of the claim, 2 months hence. The notes column is where you put the time for each file. In this column, you have to 'save'.

Paste the URL from the uploader (if it's your file) or from the thread if it is someone else, in the Listen URL column, hit enter. The Link column is automatically populated when you do this.

The status column is a drop-down menu. Remember to change the status whenever you enter a file. That triggers a message to Your DPL.

I think that's it. Any questions, please ask.
Have fun!

Thanks, Lynnet! I will work on this MW today. Will I be able to place a link in the Notes column or something?

I will work on making this as easy as possible through a Google Doc or I think archive.org might have a PDF of it.

Yes you can put links in the notes column (although I can’t give you the code offhand… I’d have to look it up if you need it). Archive is definitely an alternative if you can find it there.

Hi, Kriti! I haven't gotten the magic window up yet but when it is up it will reflect that the Trifler has already been signed-up for by another user. Any/all of the other content is up for grabs though! Are you interested in reading any of the other pieces?

Hi @Lynnet, I have updated the MW. How would Sati be assigned as DPL? Do I have to do anything for this? Also do I have to do anything now that this is in the New Projects Launch Pad or do I just when looking for additional readers post it to the Readers Wanted forum section? thanks, Kelly
