Thank you for your interest in this project.
We do, however, request that our new readers first complete a one-minute test recording to check out all of your technical specifications and any reading issues.
New to recording? Please read our
Newbie Guide to Recording!
Here is a direct link to instructions for the one-minute sample recording:
https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test
Among the useful information there you will find instructions for completing your test recording. Once you have the "OK" on that, post again here and you are free to record for this project. Let us know how you would like to be credited in the LibriVox catalog - real name, pseudonym or other nickname.
There a a number of issues with this recording, which is why we ask new readers to do a test recording so these things can be ironed out before joining a project. Then, there are specific instructions that you need to follow which are given in the initial project post, such as how to name the file, which you have incorrect.
Issues:
This recording is stereo and all LV recordings must be mono
The volume is too high. Our target is 89 decibels with an acceptable range of 86-92
There is a large amount of background noise. You can adjust your recording set-up to help, and you can also use the Noise Reduction feature in Audacity or other program that you may be using.
There is no silence at the beginning or end. We need 0.5-1.0 second at the beginning, and about 5 seconds at the end.
The closing is incorrect. It should be, "This recording is in the public domain."
As mentioned, the file name is incorrect. Just copy and paste from the template given in the instructions.
And, you did not make a request and have it approved before you submitted your recording.
This should give you some guidance when you do your test recording.
Once you get the OK on that, post here again with your request for any open section, and let us know how you would like to be listed in the catalog. DO take some time to read through our guides and tutorials so you are better prepared to participate.
We are glad to have you and want you to succeed!
