If you mean the various collections with numbers - they are projects where you chose what you read that would fit in - reading the first post will tell you what would be acceptable in that collection.
The first post in all projects has all the information for that project.
thus viewtopic.php?f=19&t=92155 is for any PD poem you wish to read

I understand how the process works but there are some projects that look like they are open to claiming with only the number in one column, the name of the work in the next, notes in the next, nothing in the next and the word Open in the last. There is no indication they are spoken for. I can't find any text to look at for them.

Could you post a link to the project you're talking about?
I suspect those are open sections in projects - no one has claimed them, so they're open for anyone to claim. The text link should be in the post, a little bit down from the title of the project. It won't be in the Magic Window itself.

Links: you can just paste it right in the way it is. If you want it to show different text than the link, it's a little more complicated.
Images: the image must be hosted somewhere else, somewhere publicly accessible. Then stick the URL for the picture inside the Image tags. Note, though, that we discourage posting images unless they're needed to explain Librivox workings, etc. - animated images are annoying, and we try to keep the board accessible for the blind, who use screen readers.

I wanted to know how to attach images or links when Ken asked me to give him the mp3 file to look at. I am on Audacity Forum ( the dedicated program site) and they send screenshots of problems with the program they are having and it is useful in those situations. Other than that there is no reason to use it.
How do I learn what the little row of icons above this box stand for and are used for?

If someone asks you for the file, upload it to the uploader (probably using the xx-nonprojects folder), then post the subsequent link in the thread.
Regarding the post icons: they're typical BBCode (bulletin board code). When I mouse over them, it tells me what they are and a basic instruction on how to use them.

In your folders set up, what are 'covers'? I am familiar with musicians recording the songs of others as covers.
I have gotten the go-ahead to choose a reading project. I really like to read fiction/historical/animals to children. I am searching now but do you have any idea where I can find that genre? I used to read to kindergarten classes way back in the day and really loved it.
Thank you.

"Covers" are the cover artwork that is made after a project is cataloged. I help with those. You can disregard that folder.
Books in Readers Wanted should have some sort of keyword in their thread title to indicate what kind of project they are. I'd browse the Readers Wanted forums looking for "children". There's not really a great way to search for open projects for specific genres.

I followed some links and found: https://librivox.org/search?primary_key=39&search_category=genre&search_page=2&search_form=get_results On it under Genre I found a whole listing of children's works. I found a group I liked. Children's Fiction > Myths, Legends & Fairy Tales, Completed: 414 books | In progress: 12 books
I love Hans Christian Anderson. They have already been done but I saw that I can do them again. That is where I would like to do my first reading if that is ok.

Why not start by choosing one of his short stories, for example from https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/1597, and recording it for Short Story Collection 102? It's accepting contributions here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=91888. With open collections like that, nobody pre-defines what is going to be included. Anybody can contribute whatever short story they want, and as long as the Proof Listener doesn't find any issues the Book Co-ordinator (BC) will add the recording into the collection. Details of how to get started are included as the first post of that thread, and you can post any specific queries you have about the process there. Good luck!Dayne wrote: ↑April 18th, 2022, 4:11 pm I followed some links and found: https://librivox.org/search?primary_key=39&search_category=genre&search_page=2&search_form=get_results On it under Genre I found a whole listing of children's works.
