PL note:

This note is long but there are only four types of feedback on the 41:41 recording of Section 100

21:13 - 21:14 repeated "that is". Please remove the repetition.

The second type is a list of spots that are each for a 5-second silence for future inserting of music pieces.
14:52 - 14:58
16:12 - 16:16
16:18 - 16:22
17:36 - 17:39
18:59 - 19:05
19:06 - 19:08
19:10 - 19:12
19:15 - 19:20
19:21 - 19:27
19:46 - 19:48
19:49 - 19:54
22:24 - 22:29

The above spots are supposed to be replaced each by a 5-second silence, as our previous discussion confirmed. I understand this is your original recording before our discussion note that we've agreed on the readers please NOT include the lyrics in your reading since the singer does it, according to the discussion on page 32 of our forum, please make sure the lyrics are excluded in page 407, 408.

The third type is for me to ask advice from ya all musicians, again!

16:34 - 16:39 in the second line from the bottom on page 406
17:11 - 17:15 at the end of the first footnote on page 407

The above two spots are about the same sign that is supposed to be the same note of musical sign.
I have no say on this part and I am asking our BC and musicians to please take time to read and comment on what is best to be done here for this "strange sign" - I do not have a paper version of this book thus I have no clue what it is supposed to be.

Sorry, the fourth spot - also repeatedly reminding you that we should have a 5-second silence at the end of each section for the sake of future editing. Please add a 5-second silence at the end of the section!

Again, many thanks, Chris, for all your wonderful efforts!

Regards,
Jessie

PL note:

I listened to this 32:57 recording of Section 103, which is now PL OK; many thanks for your excellent recordings!

Be that as it may.
  :D
But right now you have to contend with [103] https://librivox.org/uploads/mightyfelix/jsbach2_103_schweitzer_128kb.mp3
32m 57s

P.S. reading the last page of [103] was eerie, (since it bled into [104]); rather like the newsreel cinemas of my childhood; I wanted to get up from my seat and excuse myself by mumbling "This is where I came in".
Cheers, Chris

Mozartjr wrote: August 8th, 2017, 4:17 amAny questions?
Hi Mozartjr.
I have been tabulating which of the recordings need my attention and what needs to be done.
Jesse is doing a phenomenal job of PL, and is finding warts where I thought that there were no warts at all (grin), so although I have made corrections to some tracks, I want to be sure that i have not missed a post about a track I have submitted.

From the MW I cannot determine completely the status of sections 88 and 106.
Both sections are reported as "PL OK for now, but missing music. Will need a final spot PL" but search as I have done, I cannot find a post from Jesse detailing problems with those two tracks.
Have I missed something here?

For every other track recorded by me I think i have found the corresponding post and made corrections.
I would rather push all corrections at one time so I can move to another plateau in the project, rather that than try to keep track of ten(?) different tracks in varying stages of closure.
The MW does not appear to have any sort of audit trail or log about a specific section.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,
It looks like practically all of the narration files in the MW say that actually, like the ones that Czandra recorded...I think what that means is that the music still has to be edited into the files, so Jessie will have to give them all a final PL once that is done. I think that that is what it means, so I don't believe you have to do anything about it.
Thanks,
Mozartjr

Indeed, many of them do do that.
My problem is that I can't find an email about the PL notes for sections 88 and 106, and I have the feeling now, that Jessie has caught up with PL.

I shall assume then that, for me, sections 88 and 106 are finished, no more to be done, and get on with the remainder of the corrections.
Thanks

"CG: Waiting for comment on the symbol on pages 406 & 407" this is for section 100.
I am reluctant to start editing without all the corrections lined up, for then I will lose the timing points (mm:ss) of the corrections.
It is dead easy for me to replace the clap-silences with silences, but once that is done, a comment from Jesse about "the symbol on pages 406 & 407" will be related to a different place in time because of the changed lengths of silence or any other corrections on my list.
There is no profit in spending extra time trying to work out where a later correction is to be made because the timing was related to an uncorrected track; that way madness lies.
Cheers

I think that Jake already told us what that symbol was...."The symbol you are referring to is a "mordent", a type of ornamentation, with a stylised slur marking after it." I would just leave that be...no need to worry about it as far as I am concerned.

Hi Jessie; I have tried to track down and then implement all the outstanding fixes. LibriVox phpBB site does not support table formats (in posts) or attachments as far as I can see, so there is a document to download at www.chrisgreaves.com/Downloads/TuesdayFebruary082022.doc

To the best of my examination,

Code: Select all

104	Ch 35 pt 4 - The Performance of PLOK
106	Ch 35 pt 5 - The Performance of	PLOK

96	Ch 34 pt 3 - The Cantatas After	UL
98	Ch 35 pt 1 - The Performance of	UL
100	Ch 35 pt 2 - The Performance of UL
107	Ch 35 pt 6 - The Performance of	UL
needed corrections.

The corrected files are uploaded as

Yes about sections 88 and 106.

And many thanks for all the discussion and clarification. I take Mozart's words as the final say, as always.

I will further confirm your other sections, Chris. Your coding ability impressed me! I wish I could make use of the LV resources as half-skillfully as you do!

Jessie

PL note:

Batches to batches: sections 92, 96, and 107 are now PL OK; many thanks for your superb efficiency!

Please double-check my update of the duration of each of your updates, as I wish that I correctly update the length of each recording. (You nicely included the size of the file but not the timing length of each recording.)

More work to do on sections 98 and 100.

A tricky spot in Section 98:
17:57 on top of page 388 "Cantata: LiebsUr GoU, ... (No. 8) Bass aria" should be included in the reading before the 5-second silence for the music piece.

As to Section 100, the new 41:45 recording of Section 100 still shows the repetition
21:13 - 21:14 repeated "that is". Please remove the repetition.

But a little trivial spot of your brilliant work!

Regards,
Jessie

Yes, Section 98 is PL OK with the new 42:00 edition. Many thanks for the awesome update!

Please double-check the update for Section-100, I tried the links from this post of yours, as well as from MW, and still hear the same recording as the new Section-98. I am sure the new Section-100 is as you described and I look forward to seeing it!

I am grateful for having the opportunity to PL for your recordings.

Still at 41m41s

This time I loaded Audacity and imported the WAV file, listened at 21:13, updated the WAV file, saved the WAV file, quit Audacity, reloaded audacity, imported the WAV file, replayed the WAV file, listened at 21:13, quit Audacity, reloaded Audacity, loaded the wav file, replayed the wav file, listened at 21:13, exported the WAV to MP3, quit audacity, reloaded audacity, imported the MP3 file it and played back the MP3 file, listened at 21:13, quit Audacity, and only then uploaded the MP3 file to LibriVox.

I only do this for top-quality PLs, mind. :D
Your coding ability impressed me!
I am not sure what you mean by this; I have batch files that ZIP (Flac.zip, mp3.zip) the audio files in each section's folder with a time-stamped file.
I have a nightly backup from my data partition to an external drive
I have a weekly backup that grandfathers the nightly backup, then mirrors the nightly backup from the data partition.

In this business at my level of experience, you never know how far back you'll have to go to reclaim an earlier version of a page of audio and make a fresh start (grin!)
I am grateful for having the opportunity to PL for your recordings.
Yes, I am sure that having me on the list of tracks you must audit has been a new experience for you  :D
