Short Story Collection 101, by Various

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/short-story-collection-vol-101-by-various/
Here we present another diverse collection of short stories. We bring you classics such as Romeo and Juliet and Volodya, a little bit of mystery with The Adventure of the Diamond Necklace and a twist with The Unexpected. All selections are chosen and read by Librivox volunteers.
For clarification of what "in the Public Domain" means read this. Try to stay with works that run less than 60 minutes [74 minutes is the absolute max]. There is no need to sign-up before recording, as long as the work is clearly in the Public Domain. But please note: Wikisource CAN NOT be used as a source. See "Our policy on text sources."

New to recording? Please see our Newbie Guide to Recording for further instructions. A quick guide to our required technical settings can be found here. When you post your file, please tell the BC what name you would like to use in our catalog.

Prooflistening level: Standard
Prospective PLs, please see the Guide for Proof-listeners.

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process unless you are the BC or PL. Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Sorry, I will have to look into that. I made the recording some time ago and it may have been my fault for using two mics and mixing down to mono. I do experiment too much! I will get back once I've fixed it.

This is the new corrected upload of The Prisoner's Defence by Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930)
Duration: 31:33 (New time)
Source: https://gutenberg.org/files/22357/22357-h/22357-h.htm

Sorry again! I must have been in a bad way a few weeks ago when I recorded and edited this. Yes, it was a spare track used to keep edits and other rubbish which I had forgotten to turn off. Too much experimenting with two mics and mixing down to mono. I've PL'ed it again and it should be OK.

The Lady with the Dog by Anton Chekhov (1860-1904)

This is a wonderfully written story - a very great writer in my humble opinion.

Just catching up with previously recorded stories. Only a couple more to go ... hope this is OK.

Thank you.
And yes, that’s fine… it was just in the landmark collection, I wanted to include as many readers as possible … I thought limiting everyone to one story was too harsh 8-)
