Thanks again for this chapter and for your perseverance with this long recording! Nicely done, as always. I have just a few notes:Roselbex wrote: ↑February 4th, 2022, 3:35 pm I have uploaded A letter to Philon Section 47 Length 54:59

Zdenko!! I've been so worried about him, thank goodness he is well. He really touches my heart and I don't know why!
Page 273 (46:43) there is a blot and I deciphered it, but correctly? I don't know.
- At 37:46, "the vulgar world throws the alms," I hear "the vulgar word throws the alms" (p. 270)
- At the blurred out phrase you mentioned, looking at another translation, it appears to be "seemed impregnated with poetry." Would you mind recording that phrase?
I hadn't expected to see Zdenko again the first time I read this! The scene of his being helped along while walking I found really touching.
For the time being, I'll need a little more time than usual to PL sections that come in on weekdays. Thanks for your patience.

- At 0:41, there's a repeat of "Letter from Philon...Part 2"
- At 9:14, "The sand bears the foot-marks," I hear "The sand bears and foot-marks" (p. 280)
- At 11:26, "as if it had been revealed to me," you say "as it had been revealed to me (p. 281)
- At 13:34, "You will be blamed, accused, calumniated," you say "You will be blamed, accused, culminated" (p. 282)
- At 35:14, "nowadays disdained by the pedants," I hear "nowadays disdained by the pendants" (p. 290)

Hi. Sorry for updating so late. I met with an accident and was hospitalised. I am still not able to sit for longer hours. Please assign my claim to someone else. Thankyou for understanding.Scarbo wrote: ↑January 17th, 2022, 5:37 amCertainly! Thank you for claiming, and welcome to LV! Could you let me know what name you'd like to be listed under in the catalog?
Since this is a relatively long chapter and will probably be about 20 minutes or so long, I'd recommend claiming a shorter section of a project and starting off with that so that you can get the hang of the recording and editing process. One of the poetry projects or a book chapter of around 1,500 words or fewer might be a good place to start. But it's up to you - some new readers dive in headfirst with long chapters!
It's also a good idea to wait for feedback on your 1-minute test before you start recording, in case there are any settings that need to be adjusted.
I want to mention that even though this is chapter 30, because of the way I've had to divide up some of the chapters, the filename will be countessofrudolstadt_32_sand_128kb.mp3, since it goes by the section number rather than the chapter number.
Feel free to ask me if you have questions about anything!

Aha! A subject! It's so obvious now that it has been pointed out to me! (I should've known she wouldn't have used a slangy implied subject as my torturous interpretation required). And the next time I renew my drivers license I'm going to say "delph-colored" for my eyes and see how that goes over. Ha!- At the part you mentioned above (7:40), "It is said that a persevering will always accomplishes its object," could you read the "accomplishes," since "will" in this case is a noun? Sand's/Shaw's elevated style does make this another one of those sentences that take some parsing!
- At 24:26, "I asked him if he knew what were the Invisibles," you say, "I asked him if he knew where were the Invisibles" (p. 249)
- At 28:11, "all that is thought of the Invisibles," you say "all that is thought of of the Invisibles" (p. 251)
- At 34:40, "They no longer agree about anything," you say "They no longer agree with anything" (p. 254)
- At 40:21, "and delph-colored eyes," I hear "and depth-colored eyes" (p. 256)
- At 48:26, "There is an unforeseen obstacle," you say "There is an unfortunate obstacle" (p. 259)
Now 55:18 and all fixed: https://librivox.org/uploads/icequeen/countessofrudolstadt_21_sand_128kb.mp3
Thanks again for everything, I think Sand (plus your first class PLing) perhaps elevated, if not my style, at least my consciousness of it when I see it on a page.
Thanks,
Brize

Wow, what a book. I always hate when a good book is over. This was exciting and fearsome but I'm glad I don't live with these people who expect so much of you. I would be a complete failure. Thank you so much for your scrupulous PL'ing as we all want the best product that we can produce.

Thank you! Just one quick thing and then you'll be all set: at 11:15, "as if it had been revealed to me," I hear "as it had been revealed to me" (p. 281).Roselbex wrote: ↑February 7th, 2022, 2:26 pm I have reuploaded Letter Part 2 Section 48 with corrections Length 42:06

- At 0:10, "of The Countess of Rudolstadt," I think that "from The Countess of Rudolstadt" will help it be clear to listeners that "Part 3" refers to the Letter to Philon.
- At 17:41, "Otherwise, I, born of kings," part of "Otherwise" falls a bit below an audible level (p. 299).
- At the very end, could you add "End of The Countess of Rudolstadt, by George Sand, translated by Francis G. Shaw"?
I know what you mean! After spending 1,400-ish pages with her, it feels like Consuelo is a friend of mine. Thank you for all your hard work on this project!
